All-new Ford Figo, Aspire in the works – Launch Timeline Out

2019 Ford Figo Details

American automaker, Ford is reportedly started working on the next generation Figo hatchback and the Aspire compact sedan. The current models failed to generate volumes for the brand in India, but they are doing excellent in Brazil. It is expected that Ford is not likely to upgrade the Figo twins for the Indian market, but the Brazilian-spec Ford Ka and Ka sedan would be upgraded to the new-generation model.

According to the Brazilian media, the next-gen Ford Ka and Ka sedan will go on sale in 2021. The next-gen Ford Figo/Ka will be premium in nature and will be slotted above the segment to fill the void created by the discontinuation of Fiesta hatchback. The next generation Ford models are expected to be based on the existing platform. The new model would be bigger in size and will have fresh design language. The hatchback and sedan will receive significant new features including a modern touchscreen infotainment system with smartphone connectivity features. The new models will be equipped with the improved version of existing 1.0-litre and 1.5-litre bi-fuel (petrol and ethanol) engines. The next-gen Ford Figo will directly challenge the likes of Volkswagen Polo, Hyundai HB20 and the Chevrolet Onyx in the Brazilian market.

The next-gen Ford Figo twins are not likely to make way to our market. However, the next-gen EcoSport will be based on the same platform. We reported earlier that the next EcoSport will go on sale in 2021-22. While the global model will grow in size, the India-spec model will sit under 4 meter in length.
