All-New Force Gurkha with BSVI compliant engine launching in 2020

2017 Force Gurkha Facelift

The next-gen Force Gurkha is likely to debut at the 2020 Delhi Auto Expo

Force Motors has started working on the next-generation Gurkha off-roader in the country. A new media report claims that the next-gen Force Gurkha will arrive in early 2020. It will come with new design, added comfort and convenience features and improved safety.

The next-gen Force Gurkha will come with a stronger body, which will be compatible with the mandatory crash tests under BNVSAP. Driver side airbag, ABS with EBD, seat belt reminder, reverse parking camera, speed alert and central locking system will come as standard. Force Motors will add more comfort and convenience features in the next-gen model, which will make it more accessible to everyday life.

The new Force Gurkha is expected to be based on the same platform that underpins the Gurkha Extreme. However, the company could update the platform to further improve its strength. The SUV is likely to get multi-link suspension at the front and rear. It will be powered by the BSVI compliant version of the Mercedes-Benz sourced 2.2-litre diesel engine. The outgoing unit is capable of producing 140bhp of power at 3,800rpm and a peak torque of 321Nm between 1,600-2,400rpm. This engine is paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox as standard. The company is likely to discontinue the 85bhp, 2.5-litre diesel engine.

The report claims that the all-new Force Gurkha production will start around December 2019. It is likely to make debut at the 2020 Delhi Auto Expo. What’s interesting is that Mahindra is also developing the next-gen Thar, which is also likely to be unveiled at the 2020 Delhi Auto Expo.
