Two years back, Romanian coachbuilder Romturingia showcased a pickup prototype which was based on the second-gen Dacia Duster. Owned by Renault, Dacia and Romturingia has now officially launched the production version of the Dacia Duster Pick-Up in Romania.
The new Duster Pick-Up is only available as a single cab, which allows the brand to offer a reasonably-sized cargo area. The lifestyle pick-up’s bed is 1.65 meters long, and offers a volume of 1,000 litres. It is capable of pulling a payload of 500 kg. The tailgate is designed and developed using composite materials covering a metallic structure. It retains the exterior design of the Duster SUV’s rear hatch with third brake light is placed at the top.
The Duster pick-up measures 4,341mm in length, which makes it 19mm shorter than the Duster SUV. However, the ground clearance is raised by 14mm to 224mm. It is based on the 4×4 variant of the Duster SUV. It is powered by a 1.5-litre BlueDCi turbodiesel engine paired to a six-speed manual gearbox and a four-wheel-drive system.
The diesel engine is capable of producing 113bhp of power and a peak torque of 260Nm at 2,000rpm. The Duster Pick-Up is claimed to return a fuel efficiency of 57.4 mpg in UK, which is roughly around 20.2kmpl. The lifestyle pick-up is available in a single Glacier White colour. It rides on 16-inch alloy wheels. For safety and security, it gets Hill start assist, Hill descent control, ESP (Electronic Stability Programme), ABS with EBD, along with front and side airbags.
In terms of features, the pick-up gets impulse front electric window on the driver’s side, height adjustable driver’s seat with lumbar adjustment, hands-free access, electric rear windows, heated front seats, automatic air-conditioning, etc.
