The Japanese automaker has been working on the new-generation Toyota Innova Crysta, which was recently caught on camera during its test rounds. While there is no official information, the MPV’s new model is likely to debut in the second half of 2022. Its India launch will happen sometime in 2023. Here’re key features we expect in the new 2023 Toyota Innova Crysta.
– The spotted test mule was heavily camouflaged covering most of its design details. Though, one can notice the conventional Innova-like glasshouse, C-pillar, fenders and doors and the upright tailgate. It has dark chrome alloy wheels, roof mounted spoiler with stop lamps and LED taillamps.
– One of the biggest updates is likely to come in the form of new TNGA-B (Toyota New Generation Architecture) modular platform instead of the existing IMV body-on-frame architecture. The TNGA platform isn’t only compatible to different body style and powertrains, but increases efficiency of development process while reducing costs as well.
– Noticeable changes are expected to be made inside the cabin. Though, details are not available yet.
– In the Indonesian market, the new 2023 Toyota Innova Crysta will be offered with hybrid powertrains (it could be mild or strong) to meet the global emission standards. Similar to the new-generation Fortuner, the MPV might come with electric powertrain as well. Rumour also has it that the new Innova could be equipped with FWD (front-wheel drive) system along with the RWD (rear-wheel drive) setup.
– In India, the Innova Crysta is currently available with the 2.4L turbo diesel and 2.7L naturally aspirated petrol engine options. While the former is good for 148bhp and 360Nm, the latter delivers a peak power of 164bhp and 245Nm. It can be had either with a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed torque convertor automatic gearbox.
