Royal Enfield has recently unveiled the new Super Meteor 650 cruiser motorcycle at the 2022 Rider Mania. Set to be the most expensive Royal Enfield, the new cruiser will go on sale in the country in January 2023. The motorcycle made its India debut at the recently concluded Rider Mania, and participants can also book the new motorcycle.
Not just Super Meteor, Royal Enfield is also preparing a wide range of new 650cc motorcycle for India as well as global markets. The company will use the 650cc platform that also underpins the Interceptor 650 and the Continental GT 650. The company is testing the Shotgun 650 and a new Scrambler 650 on the Indian roads. Interestingly, the new 650cc platform will also underpin a new adventure motorcycle.
Royal Enfield engineers will have to make some changes to the chassis for the adventure motorcycle. The report claims that the bike will feature wire-spoke alloy wheels in off-road sizes, signature tall & upright ADV stance with a scooped-out rider’s seat and a tall handlebar. The motorcycle will have a high ground clearance, upswept high-mounted exhaust exist and a rear luggage rack. The new motorcycle will weigh more than the Interceptor (around 200kg) and the Super Meteor (240kg).
The Royal Enfield Shotgun is likely to be the production version of the SG650 concept that debuted at the 2021 EICMA. The concept had bobber-like rider’s seat, however, the production model could be offered with single and twin-seat options. The motorcycle will have retro-styling with round-shaped headlamp, rear view mirrors, and tail-lights. It will have alloys and blacked-out Super Meteor-like exhaust.
Royal Enfield is also testing a new Scrambler 650 in India as well as in UK. The company will also offer multiple accessories and customisation options with the new 650cc range. The Scrambler will have the 2-into-1 exhaust system, which will be first for RE’s 650cc line-up. The spotted model had wire-spoke alloy wheels in off-road sizes, with the front wheel appears larger than the rear. It will come with an upside-down front fork as standard.
The new Royal Enfield 650cc motorcycle range will be powered by a 650cc twin-cylinder engine that produces 47bhp and 52Nm of torque. RE will tune this engine to suit the different needs of ADV, a cruiser and a scrambler. For braking, the bikes will get disc brakes at both ends and dual-channel ABS as standard.
