After Harrier, Tata To Launch 45X Hatchback & H7X 7-seater SUV In 2019

Tata Harrier Side Reveal

Tata plans to launch 3 all-new models in India in 2019.

Tata Motors is gearing up for the launch of the much-awaited Harrier 5-seater premium SUV in January 2019. Post Harrier, the company will introduce a premium hatchback based on the 45X concept. What’s interesting is that Tata is also working on a 7-seater premium SUV based on the new OMEGA platform. Codenamed H7X, this SUV will be the brand’s new flagship product in India. While the 45X is scheduled to be launched in mid-2019, the H7X will go on sale by the end of 2019.

Tata H7X will ride on an extended wheelbase and would offer 3-row seats to accommodate 7 passengers. This SUV has already been spotted multiple times while testing on Indian roads. Tata officials have confirmed that the H7X design will be significantly different from the Harrier. Instead of sloping type roof, the H7X could receive a straighter profile to create more space in the 3rd row of seats.

The Tata H7X will be powered by the same 2.0-litre KRYOTEC diesel engine that powers the Harrier. Though, Tata engineers will tune this engine for higher power outputs. While powering the Harrier, this engine produces 138bhp and 350Nm of torque. It is expected that the H7X will receive the 170bhp, 2.0L engine. The SUV will also receive all-wheel-drive system and a six-speed automatic gearbox option, which are missing in the Harrier. Read – Tata 45X based hatchback could be called Aquilla

Tata had showcased the 45X concept at the 2018 Delhi Auto Expo. The company has confirmed that the production-ready model will be launched by mid-2019, most probably in August-September. The SUV will take on the likes of Maruti Suzuki Baleno and the Hyundai Elite i20. It has been spotted several times while testing on Indian roads. It is expected that the hatchback will offer several segment leading features including best-in-league infotainment system. It will be powered by a 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol and a 1.5-litre diesel engine.
