All Toyota Cars in India Get ABS & EBD As Standard Safety Features

One must note that the safety will come at a cost, since the Japanese carmaker has announced to increase prices of its vehicles by 2 – 3%.

Toyota India has now announced to offer ABS (anti-lock braking system) and EBD (electronic brake-force distribution) as standard safety features across its entire lineup in the country. These safety features will also be made available on the new Toyota Platinum Etios and Etios Liva along with all pre-facelift models.The standardisation of safety features comes in the wake of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways’ announcement of making airbags and ABS mandatory on all car models in India from October 2018. Besides ABS and EBD, the carmaker is also offering front belts with pre-tentioners and force limiters, 3-point ELR seatbelts and ISOFIX child seat mounts as standard safety equipment. One must note that the safety will come at a cost, since the Japanese carmaker has announced to increase prices of its vehicles by 2 – 3%. Toyota is a renowned brand that has always taken passenger safety as the utmost priority. As a reminder, the company had made dual airbags standard across its range in 2014. Toyota’s upcoming new-generation Fortuner has received a 5-star safety rating in the Latin NCAP crash test. In Australian NCAP tests, too, the SUV has achieved 5-stars by scoring 33.95 out of 37 points. The Etios Liva, that scored 4 and 2 stars for adult and child occupants respectively in the 2013 Latin NCAP crash, received the same rating in 2016 Global NCAP crash test. Apart from Toyota, Other car manufacturers like Maruti Suzuki, Honda and Volkswagen have made dual airbags as standard across their model lineup.
