India’s leading carmaker, Maruti Suzuki is aiming to launch a range of new cars in the next 2-3 years. The company will launch the new-gen Ertiga and WagonR before the end of this financial year. Adding to it, the brand is also working on a mini SUV which is likely to mark the re-introduction of “ZEN” nameplate. It was speculated that the globally popular Suzuki Swift Sport will also make its way to our market. However, Maruti has cancelled the launch of Swift Sport owing to its high pricing. Not just Swift Sport, Maruti Suzuki has cancelled the launch of the new Jimny SUV.
We believe that Maruti could launch the RS version of the Swift hatchback. This model would attract buyers looking for a sportier and more powerful Swift hatchback. It will be very similar to Baleno RS in nature and specifications. The Swift RS would be easier for Maruti Suzuki to develop this model in India.

The Suzuki Swift RS will come with aggressive styling elements such as big mesh grille, a sportier bumper and a red stripe that runs across the grille, new alloys, roof mounted spoiler and side skirts. Like the Baleno RS, the Swift RS could get high-end features like tyre pressure monitoring system, radar-based brake support, side airbags and disc brakes at front axles. The Swift RS will share engine with the Baleno RS, which is a 1.0-litre 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol unit. This turbocharged engine is boosted with direct injection system that enhances control of fuel injection directly into the combustion chamber, which results into higher fuel efficiency and lesser emission. Paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox, this turbocharged unit is good for 100.5bhp of power and 150Nm of torque. Read – Upcoming Maruti Suzuki Cars In India
