A New Citroen Car To Unveil On 29th September – C3 Electric?

Citroen India has released a teaser video of its upcoming new car stating that “What is Enough”? The French automaker has confirmed that it will unveil a new model on 29th September 2022. While the company hasn’t yet revealed the name and details of the vehicle, it’s likely to be the electric iteration of the C3 premium hatchback. Recently, the Citroen C3 electric was caught on camera during its test rounds in the country.

The test mule has thick camouflage on the front fender. Its silhouette and design language are exactly similar to the ICE-powered Citroen C3 hatchback. The car’s electric version will be designed on the e-CMP (electric Common Modular Platform) that also underpins the global-spec Fiat Panda electric car. The Citroen C3 electric is likely to share its powertrain with the Peugeot e-208 EV.

If reports are to be believed, the electric C3 will be offered with two LFP type (lithium-ion-phosphate) battery packs – a 40kWh with 82bhp, electric motor and 50kWh with a 109bhp electric motor. The lower variants are likely to come with the smaller capacity battery pack and deliver a range of around 300km on a full charge. The global-spec Peugeot e-208 with 50kWh battery pack and electric motor promises a range of over 350km (WLTP cycle). It could be offered on the top-end variant of the electric hatch.

A few EV-specific cosmetic changes could be made to the Citroen C3 electric hatchback. Similar to the regular model, the electric version will offer features such as a 10.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a digital instrument cluster, front power windows with one-touch down for driver, AC unit, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, steering mounted controls, remote locking, tilt adjustable steering, door ajar warning, dual airbags and speed sensitive auto door lock.

The Citroen C3 EV might witness a market launch in early 2023, after its official unveiling in coming days. Here, it will be placed against the upcoming Tata Tiago EV. Its prices are expected to start from Rs 10 lakh (ex-showroom).
