8 All-New SUVs Launching This Year – Hyundai Venue to MG Hector

Here we bring you a list of new SUVs that will be launched in the country in the next 9 months –

The rising demand for sports utility vehicles is quite visible in the Indian market. All the makers are preparing their SUVs to grab some market share. In the first 3 months of 2019, we have witnessed launch of some of the exciting SUVs like Nissan Kicks, Mahindra XUV300 and the Tata Harrier. Here we bring you a list of new SUVs that will be launched in the country in the next 9 months –

MG Hector

MG Motor will officially enter into the Indian market with the Hector SUV. Based on the Baojun 530, this SUV will be developed at SAIC’s Halol based plant in Gujarat. It will be equipped with several segment-leading features like in-built operating system with eSIM, OTA (over-the-air) updates, largest panoramic sunroof, segment-first 10.1-inch portrait touchscreen and 360 degree camera.

Launch – May-June 2019
Expected Price – Rs 15 lakh – Rs 20 lakh
Engine – 1.5-litre petrol, 2.0-litre diesel and 1.5L petrol hybrid

Kia SP2i

Korean automaker, Kia will officially launch its first model in India in the mid-2019, most probably in July-August. To be based on the Kia SP concept, the new model will take on the likes of Hyundai Creta and Nissan Kicks. The SUV will be equipped with several segment-first features along with high-end safety and security features. It will be available in petrol and diesel guise.

Launch – July-August 2019
Expected Price – Rs 10 lakh – Rs 16 lakh
Engine – 1.5-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel

Hyundai Venue

Hyundai will launch the much-awaited Venue compact SUV in the Indian market in the second quarter of 2019. Based on the new Santro’s platform, the Hyundai Venue will be the most feature-loaded and advanced SUV in its category. It will be equipped with Hyundai BlueLink technology, which offers 33 connected technologies. The SUV will rival the likes of Tata Nexon, Ford EcoSport, Mahindra XUV300 and the Maruti Vitara Brezza.

Expected Price – Rs 8 lakh – Rs 12 lakh
Engine – 1.0L petrol, 1.4L petrol and 1.4L diesel

Mahindra Bolero 2019

The homegrown automaker, Mahindra will give a major makeover to its best-selling SUV – Bolero this year. The new model will be equipped with several new safety features along with design changes to meet the upcoming safety and crash test norms. The exact details are yet to be revealed, but it is likely to receive a new BSVI compliant 2.0L diesel engine.

Expected Price – Rs 7 lakh – Rs 10 lakh

Mahindra Thar

Mahindra has been testing the next-generation Thar SUV on Indian roads. The new model is expected to be launched in the second half of 2019, most probably around Diwali. It will be based on the GEN3 platform, which also underpins the current Scorpio and the TUV300. The new model will be fitted to modern day features, mandatory safety equipment and new powerful diesel engine. The SUV will also grow in size to offer better cabin space.

Tata Cassini

The homegrown automaker will introduce the 7-seater premium SUV based on the Harrier. Likely to be called the Cassini, the new model will be Tata’s new flagship SUV in India. In terms of proportions, the Tata Cassini is 4,661mm in length, 1,894mm in width and 1,786mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,741mm. Compared to the Harrier, it is 63mm longer, 72mm wider and 80mm taller. It will challenge the likes of Mahindra XUV500 and the upcoming MG Hector.

MG eZS

This will be the MG Motor’s second new model for the Indian market. This all-electric SUV will be launched in the second half of 2019. It features a 45.6kWh battery pack that offers 150PS of power and 350Nm of torque. The battery can be fully charged in 6 hours using AC charger, while the 80% can be charged in 30 minutes using fast charging option. For the record, MG claims that it can do 0 to 50kmph in just 3.1 seconds.

Expected Price – Rs 20 lakh – Rs 25 lakh

Hyundai Kona

With Kona, Hyundai will officially enter into the electric vehicle space of India. The company will import this SUV as CKD unit, which will be assembled at the company’s Chennai plant. Hyundai aims to launch 2 versions of the Kona SUV. The SUV will come with 2 battery options – a 39kW and a 64kW – delivering an electric range of 312km and 482km respectively. With an electric powertrain, the Kona will be able to deliver a maximum speed of 155kmph. The carmaker claims it can do 0-100kmph in 9.7 seconds.

Launch – End of 2019
Expected Price – Rs 20 lakh – Rs 25 lakh
