Kia Carnival MPV India

The Kia Carnival MPV is most likely to be launched in India by March 2020

Kia is gearing up for the launch of the much-awaited SP concept based mid-sized SUV in the Indian market. Scheduled to make global debut on June 20, the Kia SP2i SUV will go on sale in July or August 2019. The second Kia model to be launched in the Indian market will be the global Carnival MPV. The Kia Carnival MPV for the Indian market is likely to debut at the 2020 Delhi Auto Expo, while launch is expected in March 2020.

The Kia Carinval MPV will be a premium model and will be expensive than the segment-leader Toyota Innova Crysta. This model is larger than the Crysta and will be loaded with several segment-first features. The premium MPV will be imported to India as a CKD (Completely Knocked-Down Kit) unit and will be assembled at the company’s new Andhra Pradesh based facility. The Kia Carnival is likely to be priced in the range of Rs 22 lakh – Rs 28 lakh.

The Kia Carnival is longer and more spacious than the Innova Crysta. It measures 5,155mm in length, 1,985mm in width and 1,740mm in height and has a wheelbase of 2,060mm. While the global-spec model is offered in 4 seating layouts – 7-seat, 8-seat, 9-seat and 11-seat, the India-spec model will be made available in 7-seat configuration with captain seats for the second row.

The Kia Carnival MPV will be powered by a BSVI compliant 2.2-litre E-VGT diesel engine that is capable of producing 199bhp of power at 3,800rpm and a peak torque of 441Nm between 1,750-2,750rpm. Both manual and automatic versions of the MPV will be on offer. Kia could also introduce the petrol version of the MPV.
