Hyundai has started testing the 7-seater version of the Creta SUV in Korea. Scheduled to be launched in early 2021, the new model will be longer and taller than the outgoing model. New spy images confirm that the 7-seat Hyundai Creta will carry a different rear design. A new rendering based on the spy images reveal the possible design changes to the rear and side profile of the SUV.

Going by the spy images on the Internet, it is visible that the 7-Seat Hyundai Creta comes with bigger tail-lamps that extend inwards onto the tailgate. The brake-light in the regular 5-seater Creta is placed right between the tail-lights. However, the brake-lights will be moved to roof-spoiler in the 7-seater model. The rendering also incorporates a striking faux skid plate and re-styled reverse light.

The 7-seat Hyundai Creta will have bigger quarter glass, slimmer C-pillar and newly styled roof rails, and side sills. The length of the car will be increased by 30mm, while the wheelbase will be increased by 20mm. The increase in dimensions will help the automaker to accommodate the third row of seats. Adding to it, the 5-seater model has a relatively larger boot space of 443-litres. Hyundai could also utilise this space to add new third row bench seat.

The third row-seat will be flexible, and will be folded down completely to create extra space for luggage. The company is likely to add air-con vents for the third row passengers as well. In terms of styling changes at the front, the three row Hyundai Creta will have revised chrome-studded radiator grille and more prominent bumper.

The long-wheelbase Hyundai Creta is most likely to share the engine specs with the 5-seater model. It will come with 3 engine options –  a 115PS, 1.5L petrol, a 115bhp, 1.5L turbo-diesel and a 138bhp, 1.4L turbocharged petrol. A six-speed manual gearbox driving the power to the front wheels will come as standard. Other options will include a a CVT with 1.5L petrol, a torque convertor automatic with 1.5L diesel and a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic with 1.4L turbocharged petrol.

The 7-seat Hyundai Creta is expected to be priced around Rs 11.5 lakh and Rs 18 lakh. It will directly rival the likes of the upcoming Tata Gravitas, MG Hector Plus and the new-gen Mahindra Scorpio and XUV500. Similar to the Creta, Kia Motors could also introduce the 7-seater version of the Seltos SUV. However, nothing has been confirmed by the automaker.
