7 New Maruti Suzuki Cars To Launch In India

India’s leading carmaker, Maruti Suzuki is readying to launch a wide range of new cars and UVs for the domestic market. The company will introduce the new-gen versions of existing cars along with new UVs and an all-new electric hatchback. Here is the list of upcoming new Maruti Suzuki cars in the Indian market –

1. New-gen Maruti Celerio

Maruti Suzuki is likely to launch the new-gen Celerio hatchback during Diwali this year. The new model will have new styling, new platform and improved interior. It will directly rival the Tata Tiago and the Hyundai Santro. The new Maruti Celerio will be designed and developed on the HEARTECT platform that also underpins the WagonR and the S-Presso. The new model will have a longer wheelbase and will have wider cabin than the outgoing car. The hatch will have all-new interior with SmartPlay studio touchscreen infotainment system, reverse camera, automatic air-conditioning, alloy wheels, multi-functional steering wheel and others. The hatchback will is likely to be offered with two engine options – a 67bhp, 1.0-litre petrol and a 77bhp, 1.2-litre petrol. Transmission choices will include a 5-speed manual and an AMT automatic unit.

2. New-gen Maruti Alto

Maruti Suzuki has started working on the next-gen Alto hatchback. For the global markets, the new hatch will make debut in December 2020. In India, the new Alto is expected to be launched in 2021. It is expected to be based on the new HEARTECT platform that underpins the new Maruti Suzuki cars. The new model will have all-new styling with new grille, updated bumper, revised headlamps, updated tail-lamps, bolder side creases and new alloys. The top-spec model could also receive a touchscreen infotainment system with smartphone connectivity. It is likely to be powered by a 796cc NA petrol engine that produces 48bhp and 69Nm of torque. Both manual and AMT gearboxes will be on offer.

3. Maruti Swift Facelift

Already on sale in Japan and UK, the new Swift facelift will arrive in our market in the next few months. The new model will receive few changes, especially at the front end. It gets honeycomb-mesh pattern front grille with chrome enhancement, revised bumper and slightly reshaped LED headlamps. Adding to it, the hatchback could get new alloys. Inside the cabin, the hatch could get new seat fabrics, upholstery and others. The 2021 Maruti Swift facelift will also receive a 1.2L Dualjet petrol engine that also powers the Dzire facelift. This engine produces 91PS of power and 118Nm of torque.

4. New Maruti Electric Car

Maruti Suzuki has officially announced that the commercial launch of its first electric car will take place in 2021. The new electric car will be based on the third-generation WagonR hatchback. It will share most of its design cues from the regular model, except for the new grille and new tail-lamp and headlamp design. The electric car is expected to come with both standard and fast charging options. It is likely to offer a range of 150km on a single charge.

5. New Maruti mid-sized SUV

Maruti Suzuki is readying an all-new mid-sized SUV with the help of Toyota. The new model is rumoured to be based on the Toyota Raize’s platform, which is a low-cost version of the TNGA platform. Called DNGA (Daihatsu New Global Architecture), the new platform also underpins the Daihatsu Rocky compact SUV. The new mid-sized SUV will rival the Hyundai Creta, Nissan Kicks and the Kia Seltos. It is reported that the new model could receive the new 1.2L turbocharged petrol as well as 1.5L diesel engines. Both manual and automatic versions will be on offer.

6. New Maruti C-segment MPV

The Suzuki-Toyota JV is also developing an all-new C-segment MPV, which will be positioned between the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and the Toyota Innova Crysta. The MPV will be designed and developed on the new FWD monocoque platform. It will be sold through NEXA premium dealerships and will be positioned above the Maruti XL6. It is likely to be offered with two engine options – a 1.5-litre K15B petrol with SHVS mild-hybrid system and a 1.5L diesel.

7. 5-Door Maruti Jimny

Maruti Suzuki had showcased the 3-door Jimny at the 2020 Auto Expo. However, the company will bring in the 5-door version of the off-roader. It will be a more practical model for the Indian market. The new model could be called the new-gen Maurti Gypsy. It will be powered by a 1.5L K15B petrol engine that produces 104bhp and 138Nm of torque. The 5-door Maruti Jimny might be offered with a 5-speed manual and a 4-speed torque convertor automatic gearbox option.
