6 Upcoming Compact SUVs To Be Priced Under 10 Lakhs
The sub-4 meter SUV segment is one of the fastest growing in India. Almost every automaker is readying their small SUVs, which will be launched in our market in the next couple of years. Here we bring you a list of upcoming top 6 new sub-4 meter SUVs that will be priced under Rs 10 lakh in India –
Tata HBX
Tata Motors has officially announced that the production version of the HBX micro SUV will be launched in the first quarter of FY21, which means April to June 2021. Unveiled at the 2020 Auto Expo, the HBX will be Tata’s second model to be based on the ALFA modular platform. To be positioned below Nexon, the Tata HBX is expected to be priced somewhere between Rs 5 lakh and Rs 7 lakh. It will be powered by a BSVI compliant 1.2-litre Revotron petrol engine producing 85bhp of power. Both manual and AMT versions are likely to be on offer.

Renault HBC Kiger
French automaker, Renault has started testing the much-awaited sub-4 meter SUV, codenamed HBC in India. Rumoured to be called the Renault Kiger, the compact SUV will be based on the CMF-A+ modular architecture that also underpins the Triber MPV. The upcoming sub-compact SUV will directly rival the likes of Maruti Vitara Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon, Ford EcoSport and Mahindra XUV300. It will be powered by a 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine, which is likely to produce around 99bhp of power and 150Nm of torque. Transmission options will include a 5-speed manual and a CVT automatic. The SUV is rumoured to be launched by mid-202, around July.

Nissan Magnite
Japanese automaker, Nissan has released a couple of teaser images of its upcoming global compact SUV, codenamed EMP2. Likely to be called the Nissan Magnite, the sub-4 meter SUV will be based on the same CMF-A+ platform that underpins the Triber and the upcoming HBC Kiger. The mini SUV will be powered by the same 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine paired to either manual or CVT automatic gearbox.

Kia Sonet
Korean automaker, Kia will launch the much-anticipated compact SUV – Kia Sonet in India in August 2020. The new model will be based on the Hyundai Venue’s platform. It will be offered in 3 engine options – a 83bhp, 1.2-litre petrol with IMT (Intelligent Manual Transmission), a 118bhp, 1.0-litre 3-cylinder turbo-petrol with manual and 7-speed DCT and a 99bhp, 1.5-litre diesel with manual and a 6-speed torque convertor automatic. Hyundai AX
Korean automaker, Hyundai is also readying an all-new micro SUV for the Indian market. Internally called the Hyundai AX, the micro SUV will take on the likes of the Maruti Suzuki S-Presso and the Renault Kwid. The new model will be based on the new Santro’s platform. It is likely to be powered by a 1.1-litre, 4-cylinder naturally-aspirated petrol engine that is capable of producing 68bhp of power and 99Nm of torque. Transmission options are likely to include a 5-speed manual and an AMT unit.

Honda sub-4 meter SUV
Japanese automaker, Honda is reportedly working on all-new sub-4 meter SUV. This will be the brand’s global SUV, which is rumoured to make global debut in late 2020. The SUV will first go on sale in Japan, where it will rival the Suzuki Jimny and the Toyota Raize. The SUV will be developed on the new City platform. It is expected to be offered with 2 engine options – a 120bhp, 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol and a 118bhp, 1.5-litre i-VTEC petrol. The SUV is also expected to be launched in India in 2021.
