6 New Hyundai Cars To Launch In Next 1-2 Years

Hyundai India recently rolled out the second-generation Creta and Verna facelift in the country. The carmaker plans to further expand its product portfolio with a range of new vehicles. Here, we have listed 6 new upcoming Hyundai cars that will hit roads in a couple of years.

1. Hyundai Tucson Facelift

Previewed at the 2020 Auto Expo, the Tucson facelift will be the next launch from Hyundai’s stable. The premium SUV will come with slightly improved styling and a pack of new connectivity and comfort features. The model lineup will be offered in three variants – GL 2WD, GLS 2WD and GLS 4WD – powered by 2.0L diesel and petrol engines. The gasoline motor will be good enough for 182bhp and the oil burner will deliver 150bhp. There will be two automatic gearboxes to choose from a 6-speed and 8-speed unit.

2. New-Gen Hyundai i20

The carmaker will bring in the new-generation Hyundai i20 hatchback in the coming months (possibly in June, 2020). The new model will be offered with three engine options – a 1.2L petrol, a 1.0L turbo petrol (sourced from Aura sedan) and a 1.5L diesel. While the 1.2L and 1.0L turbo petrol motors will return power worth 83bhp and 99bhp respectively, the 1.5L diesel unit will deliver 115bhp. The hatchback can be had either with a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque convertor gearbox. The 2020 Hyundai i20 will come with first-in-segment all digital instrument cluster with a 10.25-inch display.  

3. Hyundai Creta 7-Seater

Hyundai Creta 7-seater will also make its way to India in the second half of 2021. Here, it will be put up against the upcoming MG Hector Plus and Tata Gravitas. Compared to its 5-seater version, the Creta 7-seater will be longer, more spacious and premium. It will be 30mm longer and sit on 20mm longer wheelbase than the regular model.  Styling of the SUV will also be tweaked. The 7-seater version might share its powertrains with the standard Creta that includes a 1.5L NA petrol, a 1.0Lturbo petrol and a 1.5L diesel unit. Transmissions are likely to be carried over from the 5-seater Creta.

4. Hyundai Palisade SUV

The South Korean carmaker is evaluating the Hyundai Palisade SUV for the Indian market. If launched, it will take head-to-head against the cars like Skoda Kodiaq, Ford Endeavour, Toyota Fortuner and the upcoming MG Gloster. Globally, the 7-seater SUV is offered with two engine options – a 3.8L V6 direct injection petrol and a 2.2L turbocharged diesel. The gasoline unit makes 291bhp with 355Nm and the oil burner delivers 200bhp with 441Nm. Transmission duties are taken care of by an 8-speed automatic gearbox with a multi-plate torque converter.

5. Hyundai Starex MPV

The carmaker might also foray into the premium MPV space with the all-new Hyundai Starex. It will lock horns with the Toyota Innova Crysta and the newly-launched Kia Carnival. The MPV might be offered with a 2.2L turbo diesel engine that generates a top power of 197bhp and a peak torque of 440Nm. It’s the same powertrain that does duty in the Kia Carnival. Transmitting power could be a 6-speed torque convertor automatic gearbox. Feature-wise, the MPV might offer split LED headlamps, 17-inch alloys, LED taillamps, a freestanding 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, double swing rear door, a 360 degree camera, multiple airbags and more.

6. Hyundai Electric SUV

The South Korean carmaker is also considering a compact electric SUV for India. To be positioned against the Tata Nexon EV, the new Hyundai electric SUV will be Made-in-India and Made-for-India product. It will be based on a flexible platform and designed from ground-up. It will offer a range between 200km – 300km.
