Here is a list of top brand new 7-seater SUVs launching in the Indian market in the next 1-2 years –

Tata Buzzard/Cassini

Buoyed by the success of Harrier, Tata Motors is now readying the 7-seater SUV for the Indian market. Based on the Harrier, the new model is likely to be called the Buzzard or Cassini. It was first showcased at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show. The new model will look largely identical to the Harrier, but it gets subtle design changes and upgraded engine. The SUV will be powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel engine that also powers the Harrier. However, this engine will be tuned for higher power output and is likely to produce around 170bhp and 350Nm of torque. MG Hector 7-seater

MG Motors has officially announced that the 7-seater derivative of the Hector SUV will arrive in our market in 2020. The new model is rumoured to receive a new nameplate and will directly rival the Tata Buzzard and the Mahindra XUV500. The SUV will largely identical to the regular model, though the company could make subtle changes to keep things fresh in the market. It will be offered with 2 engine options – a 170bhp, 2.0-litre diesel and a 140bhp, 1.5-litre petrol.

New Mahindra Scorpio

Homegrown automaker, Mahindra has started testing the next-generation Scorpio SUV in the country. The new model will be based on the thorougly updated ladder frame chassis, which will also underpin the new Thar. The new model will be longer and wider than the outgoing SUV, offering spacious cabin. It will receive front-facing third row of seats. The new Scorpio will receive a new 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel engine, which is likely to offer around 160-170bhp of power. The company could also launch the petrol version of the Scorpio.

New Mahindra XUV500

Not just Scorpio, Mahindra is also readying the next-gen XUV500. Likely to be based on the all-new front-wheel-drive platform, the new Mahindra XUV500 is scheduled to be launched in the mid-2020. The new platform will also underpin the Ford’s unnamed C-segment SUV, which will arrive in early 2020. The SUV will be powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel and petrol engines. Next-gen Hyundai Creta

Hyundai will launch the second generation Creta SUV in the Indian market in early 2020. The SUV is likely to be unveiled at the 2020 Delhi Auto Expo. What’s more interesting is that the company is also readying a 7-seater derivative of the Creta, which is expected to be launched in 2021.
