5 New Skoda Cars To Launch This Year
Czech carmaker, Skoda has planned 5 new vehicles for the Indian market that will hit roads before the end of 2020. The lineup will include a couple of new models (come via import route) and three updated products. All new Skoda cars might debut at the 2020 Auto Expo in February.
The imported models will be all-new Skoda Karoq and Skoda Octavia RS 245. Both vehicles will come under the government’s new norm that allows a carmaker to import 2,500 units annually without local homologation process.
The Skoda Karoq is likely to be offered with a BS6-compliant 1.5L TSI turbocharged petrol engine that’s good for 150bhp. Transmission choices will include a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed DCT automatic unit. The performance-oriented Skoda Octavia RS 245 will come with 2.0L TSI turbo petrol motor generating power worth 245bhp and 370Nm of torque.
The three updated models will be the BS6 Skoda Rapid petrol, Skoda Superb facelift and Skoda Kodiaq petrol. The Rapid sedan will get a new BS6-ready 1.0L, 3-cylinder turbo petrol engine instead of the existing 1.6L MPI motor. The new gasoline unit will deliver power close to 115bhp and 200Nm of torque.
The 2020 Skoda Superb facelift will receive minor updates inside and out along with the 2.0L TSI turbo petrol engine. While the updated Superb will see a release in May, the Skoda Kodiaq petrol will go on sale in late 2020. The 7-seater SUV will be powered by a 2.0L turbocharged TSI petrol engine.
