The second week of August 2021 will witness some important product unveil and launches. Here’s a brief on the upcoming models including 3 new cars and 2 electric scooters.
1. New Audi RS5
Audi India will roll out the new RS5 and S5 Sportback (four-door) on 9th August 2021. The model witnessed significant changes inside and out including new headlamps, a larger single-piece grille, revised diffuser, tweaked taillamps, new free-standing 10.1-inch touchscreen with Audi’s new MMI acoustic response technology, Audi’s updated 12.3-inch Virtual Cockpit digital instrument and RS-specific elements. For power, the 2021 Audi RS5 Sportback will use the same 2.9L, twin-turbo V6 engine that’s good for 450bhp and 600Nm. It comes with Audi’s Quattro AWD and an 8-speed automatic transmission.
2. MG Gloster Savvy
MG Motor India has confirmed that it will launch a new variant of the Gloster SUV on 9th August 2021. It’s likely to be a new, more affordable Savvy variant with 7-seat layout. One must note that the top-end Savvy trim is currently available with 6-seats configuration only. No other changes will be made to the model. It will continue to derive power from the 2.0L twin-turbo diesel engine making 218bhp and 480Nm. The new MG Gloster Savvy 7-seater variant will come with an 8-speed automatic gearbox and 4WD (on-demand) system.
3. Mahindra XUV700
The much-awaited Mahindra XUV700 7-seater SUV will make its official debut on 15th August 2021. It launch, however, will happen in September or October (2nd). The SUV will mark debut of Mahindra’s new logo and the brand’s most powerful petrol and diesel engines. The XUV700 petrol will come with the 200bhp, 2.0L turbo unit and the diesel version will be packed with a 185bhp, 2.2L mHawk turbo motor. Transmission options on offer will include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque convertor automatic. Mahindra has packed with the new XUV700 with several segment first features including personalized safety alerts, auto booster headlamps and more.
4. Ola Electric Scooter
Ola’s much-awaited electric scooter is slated to launch on 15th August 2021. The new scooter is reported to come in three variants – Series S, S1 and S1 Pro – and in 10 colour schemes including 3 metallic, 3 pastel and 2 matte shades. It’s likely to offer a range of 150kms on a full charge. The new Ola electric scooter can accelerate 0 to 45kmph in 3.9 seconds and has a speed limit of around 100kmph. It will offer the largest underseat storage space in its segment. Some of its key features includes smartphone connectivity, a digital instrument console, cloud connectivity, removable lithium-ion battery and telescopic front suspension.
5. Simple One
Simple Energy will introduce its first electric scooter – Simple One – on 15th August 2021. In the first phase, the model will be available across 13 states. Powertrain system of the scooter includes a 4.8kWh lithium-ion battery that’s likely to be detachable. It will offer a range of 240km on a single charge in Eco mode. Its top speed will be 100kmph and its capable to achieve 0 to 50kmph in 3.6 seconds. The Simple One comes equipped with a triangular LED FRL, black grab rail, handlebar mounted turn indicators, LED taillamps, a touchscreen on-board navigation and Bluetooth connectivity.
