Citroen C5 Aircross

PSA Groupe will finally enter in our market with the Citroen brand in 2020. The C5 Aircross will be the brand’s first new model for the Indian market. Groupe PSA has joined hands with CK Birla Group to develop engines, platforms and new cars in India. The Citroen C5 Aircross will face challenge from cars like Jeep Compass, Hyundai Tucson and the newly-launched Tata Harrier. The exact engine details are yet to be announced, but it is eexpected to be available with petrol and diesel engines with the standard 8-speed automatic gearbox. It is likely to get the new 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol and the 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel engine.

New Hyundai Creta

Korean automaker, Hyundai will launch the second generation Creta SUV in India in 2020. The new-gen Hyundai Creta is expected to be unveiled at the 2020 Delhi Auto Expo. It will be based on the new Kia Seltos platform. The new model will also be offered in a 7-seat configuration, but on a later date. The new model will grow in size and will receive significant design changes and all-new interior. It will be powered by new 1.5-litre petrol and diesel engines. Adding to it, the company could also launch the performance oriented version of the new Creta.

Tata Blackbird

Tata Motors is readying an all-new mid-sized SUV, which will be slotted between the Nexon and the Harrier. The new model is reportedly to be based on the Chinese Chery Tiggo 5X. The Chinese brand is also planning to enter India with the help of Tata Motors. The new model will directly rival the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Nissan Kicks, Renault Duster and the Kia Seltos. Internally called the Tata Blackbird, the new mid-sized SUV could make its debut in concept form at the 2020 Delhi Auto Expo. The new SUV is expected to be powered by a BSVI compliant 1.5-litre turbocharged diesel engine.

Launch – End of 2020 or early 2021
Expected Price – Rs 10 lakh – Rs 15 lakh

New Mahindra Scorpio

Homegrown automaker, Mahindra is readying the new generation versions of the Scorpio, Thar and the XUV500. The next-gen Scorpio has already been spotted testing in India. Going by the images, it is visible that the new model is longer and wider than the outgoing model. The SUV will also receive an all-new cabin, which is inspired by the Alturas. Adding to it, the SUV will get the forward facing third row of seats. The new model will be powered by a newly developed 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel engine that is likely to produce around 170bhp of power.

New Honda City

India’s most loved sedan – the Honda City will receive a new generation model in 2020. The global debut will take place in Thailand in October this year. The new model will make India premiere at the 2020 Delhi Auto Expo. It will be based on the thoroughly updated version of the existing platform. The new City will grow in size, which results into more legroom space for the rear occupants. Design of the sedan will be inspired by the bigger Honda sedans including Insight and the Accord.
