5 New Car Launches In Next 3 Months – New Innova To Creta Facelift

In the first 9 months of this year, we have witnessed multiple new car launches including the Citroen C3, Tata Tiago EV, new Mahindra Scorpio N and others. In the next 3-4 months, we will witness the launch of multiple new cars in the country. In this article, we bring you a list of top 5 new cars to be launched in the Indian market over the period of next 3-4 months –

Toyota Innova HyCross

Japanese automaker, Toyota will unveil the new gen Innova hybrid in November in Indonesia. The Indonesian-spec model is reportedly to be called the new Innova Zenix, while the India-spec model is rumoured to be called the Innova HyCross. The new Innova is expected to be launched in our market sometime in January-February 2023. The new model will be offered in petrol as well as petrol-hybrid engines. Indonesian media reports that the new Innova will receive Made-in-India engines; however, Toyota is yet to make an official announcement on the same.

The new Toyota Innova HyCross will be based on a new, monocoque platform with front wheel drive setup instead of RWD layout in the current ladder-frame based model. The new model is likely to be offered with 2.0L petrol engine and a 2.0L hybrid powertrain. The hybrid version will comprise of a petrol engine with an electric motor and a battery pack. The company could use the THS II (Toyota Hybrid System II) that consists of a twin-motor setup for high ‘step-off’ torque and fuel efficiency.

Maruti Suzuki is testing a new SUV Cross, codenamed YTB that is scheduled to make global debut at Auto Expo 2022 in January. If reports are to be believed, the new YTB SUV Coupe will go on sale by February 2022. Likely to be called the Maruti Baleno Cross, the new model will be designed and developed on Suzuki’s lightweight HEARTECT platform. The new model will be the production version of the Futuro-e concept that was displayed at the 2020 Auto Expo. It will be sold exclusively through NEXA premium dealership network.

The new model will share the cabin and features with the Baleno hatchback with some twists. With the new Baleno Cross, MSIL will bring back the performance oriented Boosterjet petrol engine. It will receive a 1.0-litre Boosterjet petrol engine that is likely to produce around 101bhp and 250Nm of torque. This engine is also expected to receive mild-hybrid tech to achieve higher fuel efficiency.

New MG Hector

MG Motor India has officially announced to launch the new gen Hector SUV before the end of this financial year. In fact, MG has released the clear interior pictures of the SUV. It will come with all-new cabin with dual-tone Oak White and Black scheme. The SUV gets leather finished dashboard and leather cover for door panels, steering wheel and on gear shift. What’s interesting is that the new model will receive segment largest 14-inch HD portrait touchscreen infotainment system, which is supported with Next-Gen i-SMART technology. It comes with a fully digital 7-inch configurable instrument console.

The SUV is likely to come with the Level 2 Adaptive Driver Assistance System (ADAS) with features like forward collision warning, lane assist, adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, etc. In terms of styling, the new Hector is likely to get new chrome grille, revised headlamp and tail-lamps along with new alloys. It is expected to be offered with two engine options – a 1.5L turbo petrol and a 2.0L turbo diesel.

Mahindra XUV400

Mahindra will launch the new XUV400 electric SUV in the end of January 2023. Bookings for the new Mahindra XUV400 will begin in the first week of January 2023. The test drives will begin from December 2022 across 16 cities, namely, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Delhi NCR, Bengaluru, Kolkata, Chennai, Pune, Ahmedabad, Goa, Jaipur, Surat, Nagpur, Trivandrum, Nashik, Chandigarh, Kochi). The new Mahindra XUV400 is essentially the electric version of the XUV300 with slightly different styling, more features and cabin space & most importantly the electric powertrain.

The new Mahindra electric SUV comes with a 39.5kWh battery pack and offers a combined power and torque output of 148bhp and 310Nm respectively. Mahindra claims that the new electric SUV delivers a range of 456km on a single charge. It is claimed to achieve 0 to 100kmph in 8.6 seconds before hitting a top speed of 150kmph. The battery pack takes 50 minutes to get charged from 0 to 80% via 50kW DC fast charger. Using 7.2kW and 3.3kW chargers, the battery can be fully charged in 6 hours 30 minutes and 13 hours respectively. The electric SUV offers 3 driving modes – Fun, Fast and Fearless. It offers the segment-first single pedal drive mode – Lively mode.

Hyundai Creta facelift

Hyundai will launch the new Creta facelift in the country in early next year. The new model will come with significantly revised design and upgraded cabin. The design of the SUV is inspired by Hyundai’s new ‘parametric grille’ that stretches across the entire width and merges with the LED DRLs. The rectangular-shaped headlights are placed slightly lower on the bumper. It gets revised tailgate design with sharp creases and new LED tail-lights. Hyundai has also removed the LED bar that connects the tail-lights.

Inside the cabin, the new Creta facelift is likely to get a revised 10.25-inch digital instrument console and an updated Hyundai’s Bluelink connected car tech. The SUV is also likely to receive ADAS tech with features like adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitor, lane keep assist, rear cross-traffic avoidance assist and autonomous emergency braking with forward collision avoidance. It will continue to be offered with the same set of engines – a 115bhp, 1.5L 4-cylinder naturally-aspirated petrol, a 115bhp, 1.5L turbo-diesel and a 140bhp, 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol.
