5 New Car Launches, 2 SUV Unveilings In August 2021

Car manufacturers are gearing up to roll out their new products ahead of the upcoming festive season. A range of new cars/SUVs has been slated to launch the next month. Here’s a brief on the upcoming new vehicles that will hit roads or make global debut in August 2021.

New Car/SUV Launches

1. Tata Tiago NRG

Tata Motors has confirmed that it will introduce a new “tough and sporty avatar of something which is seriously fun” on 4th August 2021. While the carmaker hasn’t yet revealed the name and details of the model, it’s likely to be the updated Tata Tiago NRG. It’s essentially the crossover version of the hatchback featuring 1.2L petrol and 1.0L diesel engines. With the update, the model will receive the BS6-complaint powertrain along with the minor exterior and interior changes.

2. Skoda Kushaq 1.5L Petrol

Deliveries of the more powerful Skoda Kushaq 1.5L petrol will be commenced from 11th August 2021. The turbocharged gasoline unit delivers a claimed power of 147bhp and 250Nm of torque. This will make it more powerful than the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos’ 1.4L turbo petrol that’s good for 138bhp and 242Nm. It can be had with a 7-speed DSG automatic gearbox. At present, the new Skoda mid-size SUV comes with a 113bhp, 1.9L turbo petrol engine and 6-speed manual and 6-speed torque convertor automatic transmission options.

3. Honda Amaze Facelift

The Japanese automaker will give a mid-life update to the Honda Amaze compact sedan on 17th August 2021. A few cosmetic changes are likely to be made on its exterior including the newly-designed LED headlamps, new set of alloy wheels and slightly tweaked bumpers. The model lineup might also get new colour options. Inside, there might be new seat upholstery and trims. Under the hood, the 2021 Honda Amaze facelift is expected to house the same BS6, 1.5L i-DTEC diesel (99bhp/200Nm) engine. Both manual and CVT automatic gearboxes will be on offer.

4. New-Gen Force Gurkha

Force Motors confirmed that its plan to launch the new-generation Gurkha in the third quarter of 2021. Its official launch date, however, is yet to be revealed. Reports suggest that the off-road SUV will arrive in the month of August. Compared to the previous generation, the new one looks more rugged and have more features on the board. Powering the 2021 Force Gurkha will be the BS6 diesel motor that pushes out a peak power of 90bhp and 280Nm of torque. It will come with a 5-speed manual gearbox and 4WD system with manual locking differentials.

5. Toyota Belta

If reports are to be believed, Toyota will launch the rebadged version of the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz sedan sometime next month. It’s likely to be named ‘Toyota Belta’ and could be introduced as a replacement to the Yaris. Minor changes are expected to be made on its exterior (especially at the front end) along with the new colour schemes. For power, the new Toyota mid-size sedan will use the Ciaz’s 1.5L, 4-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine offering 104bhp and 138Nm of torque. The Belta will be offered with the 5-speed manual and 4-speed torque converter automatic transmission options.

1. Mahindra XUV700

Mahindra & Mahindra is reported to unveil the production-ready XUV700 premium 7-seater SUV on 15th August and its launch might take place on 2nd October 2021. The model will be based on the new monocoque chassis and come with several segment first features including auto booster headlamps, personalized safety alerts, segment’s largest sunroof and more. The Mahindra XUV700 will be made available with 2.0L turbo petrol and 2.2L mHawk turbo diesel engines making 200bhp and 185bhp respectively. Both manual and automatic transmissions will be on offer.

2. New Honda BR-V

The new 2021 Honda BR-V is ready for its global debut in August 2021, followed by its Indonesian launch. The model will be put up on display at the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS). Some of its design bits are likely to be derive from the recently-unveiled Honda N7X three-row SUV concept. Similar to the City sedan, the new BR-V will feature Honda’s Lane Watch System along with several more interior upgrades. The new model will be powered by a 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol (121bhp/145Nm) engine and the 5-speed manual and CVT gearbox options. This time around, the SUV might receive the hybrid powertrain borrowed from the City RS.
