This year we have witnessed the launch of some of the most exciting new cars including new Honda Amaze, Ford Freestyle, Maruti Swift, Toyota Yaris, Hyundai etc. With year end around the corner, automakers are planning to introduce several new cars in the market. Here we bring you a list of 5 most awaited cars that will be launched before March 2019 –

Tata Harrier

Tata seems very aggressive with its product strategy for the highly competitive Indian market. The company will launch a 5-seater premium SUV based on the H5X concept. Called the Tata Harrier, the SUV will be brand’s flagship model and will be equipped with segment leading features. It will be brand’s first model to be developed on Tata’s new OMEGA platform, which is borrowed from Land Rover. The Harrier will also preview the brand’s new IMPACT DESIGN 2.0 design philosophy.

The SUV will be powered by a new 2.0-litre MJD diesel engine, which is sourced from the Jeep Compass. This engine will be de-tuned to produce 140bhp of power and 350Nm of torque. It will also get Tata’s 4×4 system and a six-speed automatic gearbox.

Launch – January 2019

New Hyundai STYX

Korean automaker will enter into the sub-4 meter SUV space with an all-new compact SUV. Likely to be called Hyundai STYX, the small SUV will be based on new Santro’s platform. It will challenge the likes of Tata Nexon, Ford EcoSport and the Maruti Vitara Brezza. This SUV will also mark the debut of Hyundai’s new 1.2-litre turbo petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engines. The small SUV is reportedly to be launched in end of March or April 2019.

Honda Civic

Japanese carmaker, Honda will re-introduce its highly popular Civic sedan in the country before March 2019. Honda had discontinued the 8th generation Civic from India owing to its low sales and didn’t launch the 9th gen model. This is the Civic’s 10th generation model, which will soon receive a facelift in global markets. The same model will also come to India.

The new Civic is based on Honda’s new modular platform. It will be powered by a more refined 1.6-litre i-DTEC diesel engine that produces 118.3bhp (120PS) of power at 4,000rpm and 300Nm of torque at 2,000rpm. This engine will be powered by a new 9-speed automatic gearbox. It is claimed to have better shifting refinement and offer an average fuel economy of 68.9mpg (29.29kmpl).

Expected Launch – February 2019

New Maruti WagonR

India’s largest carmaker, Maruti Suzuki will launch the new-generation Wagon R hatchback by the end of this year or early 2019. The tall-boy hatchback is expected to be based on the updated version of the existing platform. It will receive a better equipped cabin, featuring a touchscreen infotainment system with smartphone connectivity. Dual front airbags and ABS with EBD will come as standard. It will continue to be powered by a 1.0-litre K-Series petrol engine paired to either 5-speed manual or AMT gearbox.

Launch – December 2018 – January 2019

Mahindra S201

Homegrown automaker, Mahindra will launch an all-new sub-4 meter SUV in the country. Codenamed S201, the small SUV will be based on the SsangYong’s X100 platform. Likely to be called the Mahindra XUV300, the small SUV will rival the likes of Tata Nexon, Maruti Vitara Brezza and the Ford EcoSport. The small SUV will also receive a 7-seater derivative, which will challenge the likes of Hyundai Creta and Renault Duster. This 5-seater SUV is claimed to be the most powerful in its category. It will be powered by a newly developed 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine that is likely to produce around 140bhp of power. On the flip side, the diesel version will get a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder engine that offers close to 125bhp of power.
