The Maruti Suzuki Jimny is undoubtedly one of the much-awaited new car launches of the next year. The automaker will bring in its 5-door version that’s currently in its testing phase. Recently, a test mule of the off-road SUV was caught on camera revealing a few design details. It has heavy black camouflage with round headlamps, grille similar to its 3-door version, sporty red alloy wheels and tailgate mounted spare wheel. While the 3-door Jimny is 3550mm long, 1645mm wide and 1730mm tall, the 5-door Maruti Jimny is reported to measure 3850mm in length. In fact, its wheelbase will also be longer (2550mm) than its younger sibling. Its ground clearance will stand at 210mm and it has a kerb weight of 1190kg. Interior details of the model are still under the wraps. Though, it’s likely to come with a larger 9.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system than the 3-door Jimny that has 7-inch unit. The off-road SUV will also get new seat upholstery along with a bunch of new features.

As far as the engine is concerned, the 5-door Maruti Jimny is expected to be offered with the brand’s K15C 1.5L Dualjet engine sourced from the new Brezza. The gasoline unit makes a peak power of 103bhp and a maximum torque of 137Nm. The off-road SUV can be had with either a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic gearbox. Both units will come with a manually operated transfer case for AWD usage. Similar to the upcoming Grand Vitara, the new Jimny will have Suzuki’s AllGrip Pro 4WD system.
The 5-door Maruti Jimny will make its world debut at the Delhi Auto Expo in January 2023. It might witness a launch a few months after its unveiling. Here, it will be placed against the upcoming 5-door Mahindra Thar and 5-door Force Gurkha. Both its arch rivals are slated to hit roads sometime next year.
