2019 Honda Civic

The Civic nameplate is undoubtedly the most popular sedan nameplate not just in India but across the globe. The 8th generation Civic was discontinued from our market in 2012, owing to its low sales & lack of diesel model. Skipping 9th generation, Honda is now ready to re-introduce the Civic nameplate, which is in its 10th generation, in India before the end of this financial year. Our sources confirmed that the launch will take place in February 2019. One of the major reasons behind the discontinuation of the Civic is the lack of diesel engine. Now, the brand has fuel efficient diesel powertrain and buyers are ready to shed extra to drive home expensive cars. The new model will get a new 1.6-litre i-DTEC diesel engine and a 2.0-litre i-VTEC petrol engine, which also powers the new CR-V.

Launch – February 2019
Expected Price – Rs 16 lakh – Rs 22 lakh

New-gen Honda City

Honda has also started working on the next-generation City sedan, which is expected to arrive before April 2020. The new-gen model will be bigger and spacious than the outgoing model. Moreover, the sedan will have better equipped cabin in terms of plastic quality and features. What’s interesting is that the next-gen City could receive a petrol hybrid powertrain, which should make it more fuel efficient. The sedan’s diesel model will continue to feature the 99bhp, 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel engine, which will be compliant to BSVI emission norms.

Tata’s mid-sized sedan

The homegrown passenger vehicle maker, Tata is working on a range of new cars. The company is also preparing a mid-sized sedan to take on Honda City and Maruti Ciaz. It is expected to be based on the new OMEGA architecture, which also underpins the Harrier SUV. The sedan is expected to share design cues from the E-Vision concept. Details about the new models are yet to be revealed, but it is likely to share mechanics with the Tata Nexon.

Maruti’s Corolla Altis

We all know that Suzuki and Toyota has joined hands to develop new platforms, electric cars and technologies for emerging markets. Moreover, the makers will also share their popular cars to enter into the new segment. One such product is the Maruti’s version of the Toyota Corolla Altis. Yes, Toyota will provide Maruti Suzuki the new-gen Corolla that will make its debut in China soon. The Indo-Japanese brand will make few changes before launching it in the market.
