4 New Premium SUVs Launching Soon – Images, Details

SUVs are the top favourites among Indian buyers. Attributes such as bold body built, feature-packed interior and strong driving capabilities make them perfect vehicle for daily and weekend commuting purpose. In fact, the SUVs recorded the highest Year-on-Year (YoY) growth in the past few months. Car manufacturers are betting big on the SUVs and planned several new models for the coming months. Here’s a brief on the 4 new premium SUVs that will hit roads in the next couple of months.

1. Hyundai Alcazar

The South Korean carmaker recently unveiled the three-row Hyundai Alcazar SUV that’s likely to see a release in the month of May. It’s the bigger and premium version of the Creta with slightly tweaked styling and extra features. Sitting on 2760mm of wheelbase, the SUV will come with the 1.5L turbo diesel and 2.0L petrol engines delivering power worth 115bhp with 250Nm and 159bhp with 192Nm respectively. Both motors can be had with either a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 6-speed torque convertor automatic transmission.

Skoda Kushaq will be the brand’s first model to underpin the heavily localized MQB AO IN platform. It will also be the first production model to come under Volkswagen Group’s India 2.0 project. The model is likely to arrive at showrooms next month to take on the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos. The Kushaq will come with 1.0L turbo and 1.5L turbo petrol engines making a top power of 113bhp and 147bhp respectively. A 6-speed manual gearbox will come as standard, while a 6-speed torque convertor automatic and a 7-speed DSG automatic gearbox will be reserved for the 1.0L and 1.5L petrol variants respectively.

3. Mahindra XUV700

Mahindra & Mahindra has confirmed that its next upcoming SUV will be named Mahindra XUV700. It will be the successor of the XUV500 packed with several segment-first features, more powerful engines and better styling. Prices of the XUV700 will be announced in Q2, FY 2022. Dimensionally, it will be bigger than the XUV500. Its engine setup will include a new 2.0L turbo mStallion petrol (190bhp) and a 2.2L mHawk diesel (185bhp) unit. Transmission choices will include a 6-speed manual and torque converter automatic gearbox.

4. Tata HBX

Tata HBX Timero Mini SUV

After the Safari three-row SUV, the home-grown carmaker will foray into the mini SUV space with the Tata HBX concept based model. The micro SUV is reported to arrive by mid 2021 (possibly in May 2021). Its production version might be named ‘Tata Timero’. It will be the second model to underpin Tata’s Alfa modular platform. Under the hood, the new Tata mini SUV might feature a 1.2L petrol naturally aspirated and a 1.2L turbocharged petrol unit. The latter one could be reserved for the higher trims. Both manual and AMT gearboxes will be on offer.
