This year Auto Expo 2020 witnessed the unveilings of some of the exciting new cars that will be launched in the next couple of years. Instead of regular hatchbacks and sedans, India will see the launch of over 20 new SUVs in the next 12 months. Here we bring you a list of top 4 new sub-4 meter SUVs that will be launched in India during festive season, before Diwali 2020.

Nissan Magnite

Nissan Magnite Compact SUV Teased

Japanese automaker, Nissan is gearing up for the launch of an all-new sub-4 meter SUV, codenamed EM2 in India. Likely to be launched in mid-2020, the new compact SUV is rumoured to be called the Nissan Magnite. The upcoming small SUV is claimed to be the most affordable in its category. If media reports are to be believed, the Magnite could be priced as low as Rs 5.25 lakh (ex-showroom).

The upcoming Nissan Magnite will be based on the CMF-A+ modular platform that also underpins the Renault Triber and the upcoming HBC Kiger SUV. The new model will be equipped with some high-end features like a large touchscreen infotainment system, factory-fitted sunroof, 360 degree camera and others. It will be offered with 2 engine options – a 71bhp, 1.0L naturally-aspirated petrol and a 99bhp, 1.0L turbocharged petrol.

Expected Price – Rs 5.25 lakh – Rs 8 lakh

Renault HBC Kiger

Nissan’s alliance partner Renault will also enter into the sub-4 meter SUV based on the heavily localised CMF-A+ modular platform. Codenamed HBC, the upcoming compact SUV is rumoured to be called the Renault Kiger. The SUV will share the underpinnings and mechanics with the Nissan Magnite SUV; however, it will have completely different design. This model will also be equipped with a factory-fitted sunroof, a touchscreen infotainment system, reverse camera, automatic AC and others. It will be powered by a 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine producing 99bhp and 160Nm of torque. Transmission options will include a 5-speed manual and a CVT automatic.

Kia Sonet

Kia Sonet Concept Price

Korean automaker, Kia had showcased the Sonet compact SUV concept at the 2020 Auto Expo. The new SUV is scheduled to be launched during festive season, Diwali. It is rumoured to feature a different name. Based on the Hyundai Venue platform, the new SUV will rival the likes of the Tata Nexon, Ford EcoSport, Maruti Vitara Brezza, Mahindra XUV300 and the Venue. The new model will be equipped with several segment-leading features like sunroof, electrically adjustable driver’s seat, a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless charger, etc.

The upcoming Kia Sonet will be made available in 3 engine options – a 118bhp, 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol, a 82bhp, 1.2-litre naturally-aspirated petrol and a 99bhp, 1.5-litre turbo-diesel.

Launch – September-October 2020
Expected Price – Rs 7 lakh – Rs 11 lakh

Toyota Urban Cruiser

Suzuki-Toyota JV’s second product in India will be an all-new sub-4 meter SUV, which will be based on the Maruti Vitara Brezza. Likely to be called the Toyota Urban Cruiser, the new compact SUV will be launched around August 2020. The SUV will receive significant design changes to make it look different from the regular model.

The SUV will be powered by a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder petrol engine with SHVS mild hybrid system. This engine is capable of producing 104bhp of power and 138Nm of torque. Transmission options will include a 4-speed torque convertor automatic and a 5-speed manual.

Launch – August 2020
Expected Price – Rs 7.5 lakh – Rs 11 lakh
