4 Mahindra SUVs To Be Launched In 12 Months – Thar LWB

Mahindra has recently launched the new-gen Scorpio N, which has received an overwhelming response from buyers. The SUV currently commands a waiting period close to 2 years. The company is also working on multiple new SUVs including 6 electric SUVs, next-gen Bolero, new Thar 5-door model and others. In the next 12 months, Mahindra plans to launch 4 new SUVs in the country.

1. Mahindra XUV400

Mahindra has unveiled its first all-electric SUV – the Mahindra XUV400. Bookings for the new SUVs will commence in the first week of January 2023, while launch is scheduled before the end of January. It is basically the electrified version of the XUV300 and will have bigger dimensions and design changes. The e-SUV comes fitted with a 39.5kWh battery pack with an electric motor fitted on the front axle. The combined power and torque output of the setup stand at (148bhp) and 310Nm respectively.

It is claimed to offer a range of 456km (as per Indian driving cycle – MIDC) on a single charge. The SUV accelerates to 100kmph from zero in just 8.6 seconds before hitting an electronically limited top speed of 150kmph. The battery pack takes 50 minutes to get charged from 0 to 80% via 50kW DC fast charger. 

2. Mahindra Thar 5-Door

The homegrown UV maker, Mahindra has announced to launch the new 5-door version of the Thar lifestyle SUV in 2023. The SUV has already been spotted testing on the Indian roads. If reports are to be believed, the 5-door Thar lifestyle SUV will make global debut at the 2023 Auto Expo in January. It will ride on longer wheelbase compared to the 2-door model, which should help in offering more space inside the cabin. A 5-door version will offer a combination of both – ruggedness and more space for rear occupants. It is also expected to come with a metal hard top.

The 5-door Mahindra Thar lifestyle will come with the same 2.0-litre turbo petrol and 2.2-litre turbo diesel engines, which powers the 3-door Thar. The engines are expected to be calibrated for extra power and torque. Transmission choices will include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque convertor automatic.

3. Mahindra Bolero Neo Plus

Mahindra is preparing a new & bigger Bolero Neo Plus for the Indian market. The new model is reportedly to be offered with Thar’s engine. The SUV is likely to be powered by a 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine with both manual and automatic gearboxes. The engine is likely to be de-tuned for the three-row Bolero Neo. It is expected to be offered in P4 and P10 trims and two seating layouts – 7 and 9 seats. There will also be an ambulance version with 4 seats and a patient bed. It will measure around 4,400mm in length, 1,795mm in width and 1,812mm in height with a wheelbase of 2,680mm.

4. Mahindra XUV300 Facelift

Mahindra will launch the new XUV300 facelift before the end of this year. It will come with design changes and upgraded cabin along with engine mechanism. It will come with a more powerful turbo petrol engine. The SUV will be powered by a new 1.2-litre turbo petrol T-GDI mStallion turbo motor that produces 130bhp and 230Nm of torque. This is 20bhp more powerful and 30Nm torqueier than the existing 1.2L petrol engine. The current petrol engine produces 110bhp of power. The diesel version will continue to offer a 1.5-litre turbo engine that churns out 115bhp and 300Nm of torque. Transmission choices will include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed AMT.
