4 Mahindra ‘Born Electric’ SUVs Launch By 2027

Mahindra & Mahindra has some really big EV plans for the Indian market. The carmaker is all set to unveil its first-ever ‘Born Electric’ SUV concepts on 15th August 2022 in Oxfordshire, United Kingdom. Speaking to an online media publication, Rajesh Jejurikar, ED, Auto and Farm Sectors, Mahidnra & Mahindra has revealed that the four Mahindra ‘Born Electric’ SUVs (out of five) will be launched by 2027. The carmaker’s Chakan and Nashik based plants will serve as production hubs for the new Mahindra electric SUVs.

The company will leverage its MRV (Mahindra Research Valley) in Chennai, the Detroit centre and Bengaluru based EV technology team for product development. Recently, Mahindra received funding of Rs 1,925 crores from the BII (British International Investment). The company will form a new EV subsidiary for its upcoming new electric cars that will be sold globally.

Talking about the upcoming Mahindra ‘Born Electric’ SUV concepts, the models will feature uniquely designed C-shaped LED signatures at the front and rear. Though, all three EVs will have a slight variation. Inside, there will be a dual-screen for infotainment and instrumentation purposes along with a rotary dial placed in the centre console. Features such as a panoramic sunroof and a hexagonal, two-spoke steering wheel will also be on offer. Similar to the XUV700, the new Mahindra EVs could be packed with advanced comfort and connectivity features including the ADAS (advanced driver assistance system) suite.

The new Mahindra ‘Born Electric’ SUV lineup might include the XUV900 coupe and a mid-size SUV (based on the XUV700). As of now, there is no official battery specifications, range and power details of the models.
