4 Electric Cars Coming In Next 4 Months – Tata, Hyundai, Mahindra

Indian EV (electric vehicle) industry has been thriving at a good pace which has been attracting global firms to make investments worth billion dollars. In the next 4 months, we will witness four major EV launches across different price range right from the affordable hatchback to SUVs and premium crossover. Here’re key details of the upcoming electric cars.

Tata Tiago EV

Tata Tiago EV Launch

Tata Tiago EV is ready to hit showrooms on September 28, 2022. The electric hatchback is expected to be priced around Rs 10 lakh. The carmaker has confirmed that the model will come with the adjustable regenerative braking system and cruise control. Most of its design elements and features will be similar to the regular model. Though, it will receive some EV-specific changes inside and out. Its official specifications are yet to be revealed. Reports suggest that the Tiago EV will come with a 26kWh battery pack and a 75PS electric motor. Its electric range will be around 300km. More details here…

BYD Atto 3

BYD Atto 3 India

BYD Atto 3, the new electric SUV from the Chinese EV marker, will see a release on 11th October 2022. Here, it will be placed against the MG ZS EV and it’s estimated to cost between Rs 30 lakh – Rs 35 lakh. The Atto 3 measures 4455mm in length, thus making it the longest EV in its segment. The new BYD electric SUV will come with two battery pack options – a 49.92kWh and 60.48kWh – delivering range of 345km and 420km (WLTP-certified) respectively. Hyundai Ioniq 5

Hyundai Ioniq 5 EV

The South Korean carmaker has already confirmed that it will launch the Hyundai Ioniq 5 electric crossover in the second half of 2022. The model underpins E-GMP architecture and globally available with the single and dual-motor (with AWD) setup. While the former makes a top power of 169bhp with 350Nm of torque, the latter delivers 306bhp with 605Nm. It comes with the 72.6kWh band 58kWh battery pack options, promising a range of 481km and 385km (on the WLTP cycle) respectively. More details here…

Mahindra XUV400

Mahindra XUV400 charging

The Mahindra XUV400 will be the first and major electric car launches of the next year. The company has revealed that the electric SUV will go on sale towards the end of January 2023. It will be launched in a phased manner across the country. Powertrain setup of the new Mahindra electric SUV includes a 39.5kWh battery pack returning a claimed power of 148bhp and 310Nm of torque. It has a battery pack offering a range of 456km (as per the MIDC) on a full charge. The XUV400 will be capable to attain a top speed of 150kmph. More details here…
