Maruti Suzuki WagonR is one of the top-selling cars in the country. The Indo-Japanese automaker has announced that the hatchback has crossed 30 lakh sales milestone since its launch in 1999. It achieved 15 lakh sales mark in 2015 (16 years) and the next 15 lakh sales was achieved in 2023 (8 years).
Currently, the Maruti WagonR is in its third generation that comes with the 1.0L and 1.2L K-Series petrol engine options. Both motors have Dualjet, Dual VVT, ISS (idle start stop) tech and cooled EGR (exhaust gas recirculation). All techs enhance its fuel efficiency and reduce carbon emissions.
The hatchback’s 1.0L petrol engine makes a top power of 67bhp and the 1.2L petrol unit delivers 90bhp. The former can also be had with the factory-fitted CNG kit. The setup offers a peak power of 57bhp. Maruti Suzuki claims that the WagonR’s 1.0L petrol engine offers a fuel efficiency of 25.19kmpl in the VXi AMT trim and 1.2L petrol promises 24.43kmpl in the ZXi AMT and ZXi+ AMT trims. Features such as a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, tachometer, turn indicators on wing mirrors, front fog lamps, 4 speakers, front passenger side seat under tray, electrically folding wing mirrors, rear wiper, washer and defogger and 14-inch alloy wheels are reserved for the top-end ZXi+ trim. The standard feature kit includes dual airbags, rear parking sensors, ABS with EBD, speed alerts, seatbelt reminder, manual AC, powered front windows, central locking, distance to empty, idle start/stop and 13-inch steel wheels.
At present, the Maruti WagonR comes within the price range of Rs 5.54 lakh – Rs 7.42 lakh. The model lineup has two CNG variants – LXi and VXi – priced at Rs 6.45 lakh and Rs 6.89 lakh respectively. There are three variants with AMT gearbox – VXi, ZXi and ZXi+ dual-tone – priced at Rs 6.54 lakh, Rs 6.83 lakh and Rs 6.88 lakh respectively. All aforementioned prices are ex-showroom.
