3 Upcoming Utility Vehicles to Rival the Toyota Innova Crysta

The upcoming Tata Gravitas 7-seater, MG Hector Plus and the MG G10 MPV will challenge the popular Toyota Innova Crysta.

Seeing the rising demand for big 7-seater UVs, automakers are now readying 7-seater SUVs and MPVs for the Indian market. Launched at Auto Expo 2020, the Kia Carnival full-size MPV has been receiving excellent response from buyers. The Carnival is positioned a segment above the best-selling Toyota Innova Crysta; however, 3 all-new 7-seater utility vehicles will be launched in our market in the next 1 year. These models will directly challenge the Innova Crysta.

MG G10 MPV

MG Motors had showcased the G10 MPV at the 2020 Auto Expo. This full-sized MPV will directly rival the Kia Carnival. However, the new model will be positioned between the Innova Crysta and the Carnival in terms of pricing. The new model is expected to be launched in the first half of 2021, most probably in March. Similar to its arch rival, the MG G10 will be offered with three seating layouts – 7/8 and 9-seats. Under the hood, the MG G10 is likely to house a 2.0L twin-turbo diesel engine that will also be used in the upcoming Gloster SUV. Sourced from Fiat, the oil burner pushes out a peak power of 218bhp and a maximum torque of 480Nm. The MPV will come with both manual and automatic gearbox.

MG Hector Plus

MG Hector Plus Launch Date

MG Motors is benchmarking the upcoming Hector Plus 7-seater SUV against the Toyota Innova Crysta. In fact, pictures of the two models standing next to each other have also been leaked on the web. The new Hector Plus was unveiled at the 2020 Auto Expo. The new model will receive captain seats for the second row in the six-seater version and bench-type second row of seats for the 7-seater model. It is expected that MG Hector Plus will offer an extremely value-for-money price tag, which will likely to attract a lot of buyers.

The Innova Crysta is available in the price tag of Rs 15.36 lakh – Rs 23.02 lakh. It is expected that the Hector Plus could be priced between Rs 15 lakh and Rs 22 lakh. The new model will be powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel engine producing 170bhp and 350Nm of torque. Power will be transmitted to the front wheels via a 6-speed manual gearbox.

Tata Gravitas

Tata Gravitas Launch

The homegrown automaker, Tata is gearing up for the launch of the much-awaited Gravitas 7-seater SUV. The new model is based on the Harrier SUV; however, it has received some changes to give a unique identity. The Gravitas is longer than the Harrier, which give it more like an MPV-ish profile. The new model will rival the likes of the MG Hector Plus, Mahindra XUV500 and the Toyota Innova Crysta. It will be offered with 6 and 7-seat options. The Tata Gravitas will be powered by the same 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel engine that also powers the Harrier. This engine is capable of producing 170bhp of power and 350Nm of torque. Transmission choices will include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque convertor automatic.
