3 Upcoming Maruti Cars With Efficient Hybrid Powertrain

Maruti Suzuki and Toyota are planning to introduce more strong hybrid cars in the Indian market. While Maruti Suzuki is selling the Grand Vitara with a strong hybrid powertrain, Toyota is offering the Hyryder & the Innova Hycross with strong hybrid powertrains. New Swift & Dzire

Maruti Suzuki is working on the next-gen Swift and Dzire, which will be launched before the end of next financial year or by March 2024. In fact, testing of the new Suzuki Swift has already commenced on foreign soil. The new models will receive comprehensive changes in terms of styling, features and powertrain. The new models will also receive a strong hybrid tech, which will be similar to the one offered on the new Grand Vitara.

The new-gen Swift and Dzire will be offered with a 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder petrol engine boosted with Toyota’s strong hybrid technology. If reports are to be believed, the new Swift twins will be the most fuel efficient cars in the country. The new models are reportedly to deliver a mileage of around 35-40kmpl. The new strong hybrid versions of the Swift & Dzire will also meet the upcoming CAFE II (Corporate Average Fuel Economy) standards. The lower variants will continue to be offered with the 1.2L Dualjet petrol engine with manual and AMT.

Innova Hycross based MPV

As part of Toyota-Suzuki ongoing model-sharing partnership, Toyota will share the Innova Hycross to Maruti Suzuki. The Indo-Japanese brand will make some changes to the MPV before launching under its nameplate in our market. It is reportedly to be introduced in the country by August 2023. To be sold through NEXA dealerships, the new Innova Hycross based Maruti MPV will be the brand’s most expensive model in the country.

The new 3-row MPV will be based on Toyota’s TNGA-C modular platform with front-wheel-drive layout. The new model will be offered with a strong hybrid powertrain. It will be powered by a 2.0L petrol engine with Toyota’s strong hybrid tech. The combined power and torque stands at 186PS and 206Nm of torque. It is mated to an e-CVT automatic unit. It is claimed to offer an impressive mileage of 21.1kmpl. The petrol version will get the 174PS/205Nm, 2.0L NA petrol engine with a CVT automatic gearbox.
