3 SUV Launches In May 2021 – Expected Prices, Details

Amid of Covid-19 pandemic’s second wave, most of the car manufacturers have delayed the launch of their new models. With some states not fully locked down, manufacturers are eager to launch their cars. Three new SUV launches have been confirmed for May 2021. Here’s a brief on the upcoming new SUVs.

The South Korean carmaker has confirmed that the updated Seltos will hit showrooms in the first week of May 2021. The SUV model lineup will get two new variants – iMT HTK+ and Turbo GTX (O). While the former will be powered by a 115bhp, 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol engine with 6-speed manual and CVT automatic gearboxes, the latter will use the 140bhp, 1.4L turbo petrol engine with the 6-speed manual and a 7-speed DCT automatic transmission options. While the Turbo GTX (O) is estimated to cost around Rs 17.50 lakh, the new iMT HTK+ variant might be priced at Rs 12 lakh (ex-showroom).

Similar to the updated Seltos, the 2021 Kia Sonet will receive new variants including HTX iMT petrol, HTX DCT petrol, HTX MT diesel and HTX AT diesel. The HTX will get traction control and dual-tone alloy wheels as standard fitments. While the HTX iMT petrol variant will come with a sunroof, the new HTX DCT petrol trim will be packed with hill assist control, electronic stability control, brake assist, vehicle stability management and multi driver modes. The updated Sonet compact SUV will be launched in early May. All new variants are likely to be priced between Rs 9 lakh – Rs 13 lakh (ex-showroom).

Earlier, the Hyundai Alcazar was slated to launch on 29th April 2021. Though, it has been postponed to towards the end of May. Based on the Creta 5-seater, the three-row SUV sits on 150mm longer wheelbase and has more cabin space to offer. It will be made available with both 6 and 7-seats configurations. The SUV’s engine setup includes a 2.0L, 4-cylinder petrol and a 1.5L turbo diesel unit making power worth 152bhp with 192Nm and 115bhp with 250Nm respectively. Both manual and automatic gearboxes are on offer. Price of the Alcazar are likely to fall between Rs 13 lakh – Rs 20 lakh (ex-showroom).
