Despite entry of new models like Mahindra TUV300, Tata Nexon and the new Ford EcoSport, the Brezza remains the most popular & top-selling in its category. However, this could be changed in the next 1 year as popular brands are coming up with their respective sub-4 meter SUVs. Here we bring you 3 upcoming new compact SUVs that will challenge the dominance of Maruti Vitara Brezza –

Mahindra XUV300

The first model to go on sale in the sub-4 meter SUV space is the Mahindra’s new SUV – codenamed S201. The small SUV is reportedly to be called Mahindra XUV300. This compact SUV is based on SsangYong’s X100 platform that also underpins the Tivoli. It is reportedly to be equipped with several segment-leading features including 7 airbags, factory-fitted sunroof, ESP (Electronic Stability Program), four disc brakes, etc. Moreover, the SUV will be the most powerful in its category. The S201 will be powered by a newly developed 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol and 1.5-litre turbo diesel engine. Both manual and automatic versions are likely to be on offer. Toyota Vitara Brezza

We earlier reported that Toyota and Suzuki has joined hands to develop cars, platforms and technologies for emerging markets. Moreover, Suzuki will provide its popular products including Baleno and Vitara Brezza to Toyota, and the later will re-badge them to enter into the mass volume segment. Toyota’s version of the Vitara Brezza is scheduled to arrive in 2019. This model will recieve subtle design changes and better equipped cabin. Expect new petrol and diesel engine on offer. It will be slightly expensive than the Maruti Vitara Brezza.

Hyundai STYX

It is a well-known fact that Hyundai is working on a sub-4 meter SUV based on the Carlino concept. While the Carlino is based on the i20 platform, the STYX will reportedly use the new Grand i10’s platform. This is basically the advanced version of the new Santro’s K1 platform. Hyundai will continue to stick with its strategy of offering best-in-class cabin and more urban centric design with the new compact SUV. Codenamed QXi, the small SUV will also mark the debut of Hyundai’s 2 new engines – 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol and a 1.5-litre turbo-diesel engine.
