Honda To Launch 3 New Cars In India This Year – Full Details

Honda Amaze 2018 Diesel CVT

Honda will launch the new generation Amaze compact sedan, new CRV 7-seater SUV and new generation Civic in India this year.

Japanese automaker, Honda is aiming at premium segment to regain its lost market share. The company will launch 3 all-new cars in the Indian market before March 2019. At the 2018 Delhi Auto Expo, Honda had showcased the new generation Amaze compact sedan, new Civic and new CRV 7-seater SUV. All three models will be launched in the Indian market this year or before the end of 2018-19 financial year. Besides, Honda will also give a mid-life facelift to its premium hatchback – Jazz.

New Honda Amaze 2018

In a bid to improve sales in the sub-4 meter sedan segment, Honda will launch the new generation Amaze. Unveiled at the 2018 Delhi Auto Expo, the new model looks more premium and feature loaded than the outgoing car. It is based on all-new platform, which is claimed to be lighter, stiffer and safer. This platform will also underpin a sub-4 meter compact SUV in future. With all-new design and feature-loaded cabin, the new Amaze will take on the likes of Maruti Dzire and Ford Aspire. The new Amaze will also be equipped with a 7-inch DIGIPAD touchscreen infotainment system with connected car applications. It will continue to feature the existing set of engines – 1.2-litre i-VTEC petrol and 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel – however; both engines will be tuned for better NVH levels and fuel efficiency. For the first time, the Amaze diesel will also get automatic options. It will be paired to a CVT automatic gearbox.

New Honda Civic

Besides Amaze, Honda will re-introduce its globally popular Civic nameplate in the Indian market. Unveiled at the biennial event in February, the new Civic will take on the likes of Skoda Octavia, Hyundai Elantra and Toyota Corolla Altis. With this sedan, Honda will also aim to target existing City buyers looking for an upgrade. Based on an all-new platform, the new Civic is claimed to offer segment leading interior space and features.

For the first time, the new Civic will come with a diesel option in India. It will be powered by a 1.6-litre i-DTEC diesel engine that is capable of producing 118.3bhp and 300Nm of torque. The gasoline version will get a 1.8-litre i-VTEC engine that is good for 139bhp and 174Nm of torque.

New Honda CRV

For the first time, Honda will launch the CRV with 7-seat layout and a diesel engine option in India. The new model was unveiled at the 2018 Delhi Auto Expo alongside new Civic and Amaze. Like the Civic, it will be powered by a 1.6-litre i-DTEC diesel engine that churns out 118bhp of power and 300Nm of torque. The vehicle is claimed to accelerate to 100kmph from zero in 11.2 seconds, which is pretty decent. The company will also introduce the petrol powered model, which will be equipped with a 2.4-litre i-VTEC engine.
