Seeing the rising demand for SUVs, automakers are now ready to launch a wide range of SUVs for the Indian market. Kia Motors, Toyota, Renault and Nissan are also readying small SUVs to further strengthen their market share. Here is a list of top 3 all-new compact SUVs to be launched in the country before Diwali 2020 –
Korean automaker, Kia will launch the much-anticipated Sonet compact SUV in the country in September-October 2020. Unveiled at the 2020 Auto Expo, the Kia Sonet will be the brand’s smallest and most affordable product in our market. It will directly rival the Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon, Maruti Brezza, Ford EcoSport and others in its category. Based on the Hyundai Venue’s platform, the Sonet will come in 3 engine options – a 1.2L petrol, a 1.5L turbo-diesel and a 1.0L turbocharged petrol. Both manual and automatic version will be on offer.
The compact SUV will be equipped with several segment-leading features including UVO Connect connected car technology, wireless charging, Bose-sourced premium sound system, automatic climate control, multi-functional steering wheel, cruise control, rear parking camera, LED headlamps with DRLs and LED tail-lamps.
Toyota Urban Cruiser
Japanese automaker, Toyota will introduce the re-badged version of the Maruti Brezza in India during festive season. Rumoured to be called Toyota Urban Cruiser, the compact SUV will receive some design changes. It will have Toyota’s family front look and slightly revised tail-lamps, though the overall profile will remain the same.
The Toyota Urban Cruiser will be powered by the single 1.5-litre K15B petrol engine that also powers the Brezza. This engine is capable of producing 104bhp and 138Nm of torque. Transmission choices include a 5-speed manual and a 4-speed torque convertor automatic.
French automaker, Renault is all set to launch an all-new sub-4 meter SUV, codenamed HBC in India during festive season, Diwali. Rumoured to be called the Renault Kiger, the compact SUV will be based on the CMF-A modular platform that also underpins the Triber MPV. The Kiger will be powered by a 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine producing around 96bhp and close to 160Nm of torque. Both manual and CVT automatic versions are likely to be on offer. The company could also add the 1.0L naturally-aspirated petrol engine, which produces 71bhp and 96Nm. The upcoming Renault Kiger compact SUV is expected to be priced around Rs 6 lakh – Rs 8.5 lakh. It will be one of the most affordable SUVs in its category.
