3 All-New 6/7-Seater SUVs To Launch This Year

Indians have a crazy love for SUVs – the sales figures say so! In coming years, we will see a range of new SUVs in all segments including sub-4 meter space, premium compact SUV space and fully fledged SUV space. There are 3 all-new 6/7-seater SUVs that are ready to hit roads this year. The list includes the Tata Gravitas, MG Hector Plus and MG Gloster.

1. MG Hector Plus

MG Motor India is all set to launch the 6-seater version of its highly popular Hector SUV. Called the MG Hector Plus, the vehicle made its first public appearance at the 2020 Auto Expo. Scheduled to launch in June, the three-row SUV will share its powertrains with its younger sibling – 2.0L diesel, 1.5L turbo petrol and 1.5L petrol with 48V hybrid system. Both manual and automatic gearboxes will be on offer. Visually, the Hector Plus looks slightly different than its 5-seater sibling.

2. Tata Gravitas

The Tata Gravitas will be the next big launch from the home-grown carmaker that will see a release ahead of festive season. Based on the Harrier’s Omega platform, the SUV uses a 2.0L Kryotec diesel engine that’s good enough for 170bhp and 350Nm. It can be had either with a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic gearbox. Once launched, it will take head-to-head against the upcoming MG Hector Plus, Hyundai Creta 7-seater and new-generation Mahindra XUV500.

3. MG Gloster

Unveiled at this year’s Auto Expo, the MG Gloster is likely to be launched in coming October. The new 7-seater premium SUV from MG is based on the Maxus D90 that’s sold in the Chinese market. Powering the vehicle will be a 2.0L turbo petrol and a 2.0L diesel engine delivering claimed power of 224bhp and 218bhp respectively. Transmission choices will include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque convertor automatic unit. In terms of pricing, it will be placed above the Toyota Fortuner and Ford Endeavour.
