3 Action-Packed Months – New SUVs/MPVs Coming In

The Indian automotive industry is ready to witness some important new product launches across segments in the next three months. The range will include a lifestyle off-roader (Jimny) and a premium MPV (Engage) from Maruti Suzuki, Honda’s new midsize SUV (Elevate), Hyundai Exter mini SUV and the updated versions of the Tata Nexon and Kia Seltos. Maruti Jimny

Maruti Jimny Price

Maruti Suzuki Jimny 5-door SUV will go on sale in the first week of June 2023. Its production is already underway at the company’s Gurgaon based facility. The SUV model lineup will come in two trims – Zeta and Alpha – and 5 monotone and 2 dual-tone colour options. For power, the Jimny uses a 1.5L K15B petrol engine with an idle start/stop function. The motor makes a top power of 103PS and 134Nm of torque. It can be had with either a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed torque convertor automatic gearbox. Honda Elevate

Honda Elevate SUV Confirmed

Honda’s all-new midsize SUV – Elevate – will have its world premiere on 6th June 2023. It’s among the much-anticipated new SUVs, which is slated to launch in a couple of months. While its official details will be revealed in coming weeks, the SUV is likely to come with the City’s 1.5L Atkinson Cycle strong hybrid and 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol engine options. Similar to the City sedan, it will be packed with ADAS (advanced driver assistance system) tech along with Honda’s Lane Watch system. The list of feature might also include a 360 degree camera, electronic stability control, vehicle stability management, a 10.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless smartphone connectivity, rear AC vents, a semi digital instrument cluster, ambient lighting system, cruise control, etc. More details here…

Updated Kia Seltos

2023 Kia Seltos Design

The 2023 Kia Seltos facelift is reported to hit showrooms in the month of July or August. With the mid-life update, the SUV will receive ADAS tech offering features such as autonomous emergency braking, blind spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control, lane assist and more. Features such as new connected, twin-screen layout for a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a digital instrument cluster, new seat upholstery and interior colour theme could be on offer. One of the significant upgrades will come in the form of a panoramic sunroof. Under the hood, the updated Seltos will feature the existing 1.5L NA petrol and 1.5L turbo diesel engines along with a new 160hbp, 1.5L turbo petrol motor. More details here…

New 2023 Tata Nexon

Tata Nexon, one of the top-selling SUVs in India, will receive a mid-life update by August 2023. Most of its design changes will be inspired by the Curvv SUV coupe concept that made its debut at this year’s Auto Expo. Inside, the 2023 Tata Nexon facelift will get a larger 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, connected car tech and voice commands. There will also be new purple seat upholstery, a twin-spoke steering wheel, digital driver display and paddle shifters. Maruti Engage

New Maruti MPV Launch

Maruti Suzuki’s new premium MPV is reported to be named ‘Maruti Engage’ that will hit roads in July 2023. It will be the brand’s first re-badged Toyota with minor cosmetic changes. The Engage will also be the most expensive model in the company’s product lineup. Similar to the Toyota Innova Hycross, it will be made available with the 2.0L, 4-cylinder Atkinson cycle and 2.0L petrol engine making 184bhp and 172Nm respectively. The Maruti Engage will underpin Toyota’s monocoque chassis and TNGA-C platform, and measure 4755mm in length, 1845mm-1850mm in width and 1785mm01795mm in height. Hyundai Exter

Hyundai Exter Bookings

The Exter will be the smallest and first micro SUV from Hyundai in the country. It will be offered in 13 petrol and 2 CNG variants, spread across five trims – EX, S, SX, SX (O) and SX (O). The Hyundai Exter will come with two engines – 1.2L petrol and 1.2L petrol with CNG kit – delivering power worth 83bhp with 114Nm and 69bhp with 95.2Nm respectively. The entry-level EX trim will be available only with a 5-speed manual gearbox. An AMT transmission will also be on offer.
