2023 Toyota Innova Hybrid Bookings Open In Indonesia; Launch In November

We reported earlier that Toyota is ready to introduce the new gen Innova MPV for India as well as other South Asian markets. A new media report claims that the 2023 Toyota Innova will go on sale in the Indonesian market in November 2022. In fact, interested buyers can pre-book the new Innova at official Toyota dealers by paying a token amount of Rp. 15 million (approx INR 80,000).

In fact, the Toyota salesperson from Indonesia claims that the 2023 Toyota Innova will cost around Rp. 400 million to Rp. 600 million (approx INR 21.33 lakh to INR 31.98 lakh). The 2023 Toyota Innova hybrid will be offered in 3 variants, namely, G, V and Venturer. The new Innova will be offered with a hybrid powertrain.

The new Innova Hybrid will join Toyota’s other hybrid cars including the C-HR hybrid, Corolla Cross Hybrid, Alphard Hybrid and the Corolla Altis Hybrid. The 2023 Toyota Innova Hybrid will also go on sale in our market in early next year. It will be sold alongside the existing Innova, which is hugely popular among fleet operators. The new Innova will be produced at Toyota Motor Manufacturing Indonesia factory in Karawang, West Jawa.

The Indonesian-spec model is reportedly to be called the new Innova Zenix. The Innova Zenix nameplate was registered in Indonesia two years ago by Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC). On the flip side, the India-spec model will be called the new Innova HyCross that is in-line with the new Urban Cruiser Hyryder (Hy refers to Hybrid).

The new gen Toyota Innova will be based on a new, monocoque platform with front wheel drive setup instead of the existing ladder-frame chassis & RWD layout. It will have a 2860mm long wheelbase, which is 100mm longer than the current model. This will help in create more space inside the cabin. The new Innova’s hybrid powertrain setup will include a petrol engine with an electric motor and an electric battery. The MPV is likely to come with a 2.0L petrol hybrid system or a 1.8L hybrid setup. The company could use the localised version of the THS II (Toyota Hybrid System II) that consists of a twin-motor setup for high ‘step-off’ torque and fuel efficiency.

Previous media reports claim that the new Innova Zenix will come with Toyota Safety Sense (TSS) suite, which is Toyota’s ADAS system. It is likely to offer features like automatic emergency brakes, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, pre-collision system with pedestrian detection, dynamic radar cruise control, road sign assist and automatic high beams. It will also come with a factory-fitted electric panoramic sunroof.
