The new Toyota Innova Zenix MPV is all set to make its global debut in November 2022. The model is likely to make its way to India in early 2023. Prior to its market launch, the MPV could be make its public appearance at the Delhi Auto Expo in January. If reports are to be believed, the new Innova Zenix it could be named Toyota Innova Hycross in India and will be sold alongside the existing Innova Crysta. According to a latest Indonesian media report, the Toyota Innova Zenix will be offered in five variants – G Petrol, G Hybrid, V Petrol, V Hybrid and Q Hybrid. Its hybrid powertrain setup will include a petrol engine with an electric motor and an electric battery. Here, the MPV might come with a 2.0L petrol hybrid system or a 1.8L hybrid setup. The Japanese automaker might use the localized version of its new THS II (Toyota Hybrid System II) that consists of a twin-motor setup for high ‘step-off’ torque and fuel efficiency.
The report further states that the new Innova Zenix (2023 Toyota Innova Hycross) could be offered with the Toyota Safety Sense (TSS) suite that offers multiple active safety technologies and driver assistance system. It’s Toyota’s ADAS system that includes automatic emergency brakes, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, pre-collision system with pedestrian detection, dynamic radar cruise control, road sign assist and automatic high beams. The MPV might also get an electric sunroof. If it happens, the new Innova Hycross will be the first Toyota model in India to come with factory-fitted sunroof.
As mentioned above, the new Toyota Innova Zenix will underpin a new, monocoque platform with FWD setup instead of the existing ladder-frame chassis and RWD layout. The model will have a 2860mm long wheelbase and have more cabin space to offer than the existing Innova Crysta. Some of its design elements could be similar to the Veloz MPV. It will have more crossover-ish stance than the Innova Crysta.
