Tata Motors has launched the new Altroz DCT automatic variant in the country. The company is also working on multiple new variants and facelifts of existing models, which will be launched before the end of 2022. It is expected that the much-awaited 2022 Tata Nexon EV could be launched by mid-2022, before Diwali.
The 2022 Tata Nexon EV will come with a larger battery pack for a longer range and few cosmetic updates. The long-range version of the Nexon Electric has already been spotted testing in the country. The new Tata Nexon Electric is reportedly to feature a larger 40kWh battery pack.
The existing model comes with a 30.2kWh battery pack, and is claimed to offer an ARAI certified range of 312km. However, the real-world range is around 200-220km. The larger battery pack is expected to offer an ideal range of around 400km. It should offer a real-world range closer to 300km.
The 2022 Tata Nexon EV will also come with a more powerful charger. It is most likely to receive a more powerful 6.6kW AC charger. The current model comes with a 3.3kW AC charger, which took close to 10 hours to fully charge the battery. The 6.6kW AC charger is likely to come as an optional.
The company will have to make changes to the floor plan of the Nexon Electric to accommodate a larger battery pack. The boot space will also be compromised. It will come with disc brakes for all four wheels. With bigger battery pack, the new Nexon EV would become heavier. The new model could offer multiple modes that improves the intensity of regenerative braking, ESP and newly designed alloy wheels.
The 2022 Tata Nexon long-range EV will be sold alongside the regular model. It is expected to be priced around Rs 17 lakh – Rs 18 lakh, which is about Rs 3 lakh to Rs 4 lakh premium over the current model. The Nexon EV will come as an affordable alternative to the likes of the Hyundai Kona EV & the MG ZS EV.
