2022 MG Hector Testing Begins – ADAS for Top Variants?

MG Motor India is planning to give an update to its highly popular Hector SUV in near future. Recently, a test mule of the new 2022 MG Hector was caught on camera during its test rounds near Bangalore. The model was heavily camouflaged covering its design details. Though, one can see its alloy wheels, taillamps, rear windshield and ORVMs. We expect it to get a few noticeable cosmetic changes especially at the front end.

Talking about features, the new 2022 MG Hector could be offered with ADAS (advanced driver assistance system) similar to the Gloster and Astor SUVs. The suite includes autonomous emergency braking, forward collision warning, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning and hands free parking.

The ADAS could be reserved for the new range-topping Savvy trim. One must note that the SUV’s current model lineup has Sharp as the top-end trim featuring blind-spot monitoring system, adaptive cruise control, lane assist and front collision warning. In other updates, the new MG Hector 2022 might get an updated infotainment system with better user interface, AI assist (as we have seen on the Astor), a revised digital instrument cluster and more. No changes are likely to be made under the hood. The new Hector is most likely to come with the same 1.5L, 4-cylinder turbo petrol and 2.0L diesel engines making 141bhp with 250Nm and 168bhp with 350Nm respectively.

The petrol engine will also be available with a mild hybrid system featuring a 1.5L gasoline unit and a 48V system. All three motors will be offered with a 6-speed manual gearbox. A CVT automatic transmission will be exclusively available with the 1.5L petrol variants.

With minor updates (as expected), the new 2022 MG Hector might see a price hike. Currently, the SUV model lineup is spread across 16 variants priced from Rs 14.5 lakh to Rs 20.3 lakh (all, ex-showroom).
