2022 MG Gloster Teased Ahead Of Launch On August 31

It is no secret that MG Motor is preparing to give a mid-life facelift to Gloster and the Hector SUVs. In fact, the 2022 MG Gloster has been spotted testing several times on the Indian roads. The company has now released a teaser of the Gloster on social media handles, suggesting that a revised model could be launched soon.

The teaser confirms that the 2022 MG Gloster will be launched in the country on August 31, 2022. MG call it the “Advanced Gloster”, which suggest that the full-sized SUV could come with several segment-first and advanced features.

Going by the spy images available on the web, the 2022 MG Gloster SUV will receive revised LED tail-lights, updated LED headlamps, slightly revised radiator grille and front bumper, along with new alloy wheels. However, the rear bumper and tailgate looks identical to the existing model.

The new 3-row MG Gloster SUV comes equipped with features like a 12.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system with advanced connectivity features, a digital instrument consle, a panoramic sunroof, a 12-speaker sound system, an electrically adjustable driver’s seat with heating, ventilation, message and memory function, a 360 degree camera, 3-zone climate control, cruise control, traction control, 6 airbags, etc. The SUV comes with Level 1 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) with features like autonomous emergency braking, blind spot monitoring system, lane keep assist, collision avoidance system, etc.

The 2022 MG Gloster facelift is likely to retain the existing 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder turbo diesel and 2.0-litre twin turbo diesel engines. While the former is good for 163bhp and 375Nm, the twin turbo unit produces 218bhp and 480Nm of torque. The twin turbo diesel engine comes with the on-demand 4WD (four-wheel drive) system with selectable drive modes. Both motors come with an 8-speed automatic gearbox.

The MG Gloster 3-row SUV will directly rival the likes of the Toyota Fortuner and the Mahindra Alturas G4. Toyota is also developing the next-gen Fortuner SUV, which is expected to be launched sometime in 2023.
