2022 Honda Civic Sedan To Be Unveiled On Nov 17, 2020 – Teased

It’s official – the new-generation 2022 Honda Civic sedan will make global debut on November 17, 2020. However, the company will showcase the prototype of the new Civic sedan – as confirmed by the first teaser. Yes, Honda has released a new teaser video confirming the debut of the new model.

Design Inspired By Accord

The new teaser also reveals the rear design, the wheels, the side profile and the front grille. We reported earlier that the registration images of the new-gen 2022 Honda Civic sedan has already been leaked in Australia. The styling of the new model is inspired by the Accord sedan and the new-gen Fit. The front bumper and the grille seems identical to the new-gen Jazz/Fit minivan.

The rear design will be completely revised with new horizontal lights instead of the boomerang design. Honda claims that the new-gen Civic will “raise the bar in style, performance, safety and advanced technologies again” for the segment. The sedan is likely to grow in size to create more space inside the cabin. The four-door coupe styling will be retained, while the front and rear design is likely to be revised. The teaser shows that the new Civic will receive bigger headlights, while the roof line will be designed in a way to offer more headroom to the rear occupants.

Under The Bonnet?

Engine details are yet to be known, but the new Civic is likely to receive significant changes to offer improved emissions and fuel economy. The global-spec model is likely to feature the 1.0L turbocharged and 173bhp, 1.5 VTEC turbocharged petrol engines with CVT units. The company could also offer the 155bhp, 2.0L naturally-aspirated petrol engine.

Few media sources claim that the 2022 Honda Civic could source the hybrid technology, which is called Honda i-MMD hybrid system, from the new Fit. It features a 1,500cc Atkinson Cycle DOHC i-VTEC petrol engine that produces 96bhp and a peak torque of 127Nm. This powertrain serves as a generator for an electric motor, and the task of running the car is with the second electric motor that offers 106bhp and 253Nm of torque. The power and torque are transmitted to the front wheels via the e-CVT transmission. Japanese media also suggests that the sedan could feature the electrified 2.0 used by Accord.

2022 Honda Civic Launch?

In the global markets, the sedan is expected to be introduced in 2021 as the 2022 model. The next-gen Honda Civic sedan is not likely to arrive in our market before 2023. The India-spec model will take on the likes of the Skoda Octavia and the Hyundai Elantra, which will also receive a generation change in India in 2022
