2022 Ford EcoSport Facelift Spied Again; New Colour, Front Design

We reported earlier that Ford could exit Indian market, as the brand is in talks with Citroen and Ola for contract manufacturing at its production facilities in Chennai and Sanand, Gujarat. However, Ford is yet to make an official announcement on the same. Interestingly, the new 2022 Ford EcoSport facelift has been spotted testing again in India.

First launched in 2013, the Ford EcoSport is the oldest model in its category. Ford has started working on the next-gen EcoSport, which is likely to make global debut in 2022-23. Before introducing the next-gen model, Ford is planning to give a mild makeover in India. The 2022 Ford EcoSport facelift will come with cosmetic updates, which are mostly restricted to front fascia.

The upgraded 2022 Ford EcoSport facelift will come with revised front design, featuring a new hexagonal radiator grille. The grille is flanked by a pair of L-shaped LED DRLs and new fog lamp housings. The vehicle also gets new alloy wheels and a revised front bumper. The rear profile looks largely identical to the regular model. The spotted vehicle is finished in a new Orange colour.

Inside the cabin, the 2022 Ford EcoSport is likely to get an upgraded SYNC 3 infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The vehicle could also receive an upgraded connected car tech. Adding to it, the SUV is likely to get new upholstery for seats. It is likely to retain the 9-inch touchscreen infotainment display, climate control, electric sunroof, etc.

The Ford EcoSport facelift is most likely to retain the existing engine options – 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated petrol and 1.5-litre turbo-diesel. While the former is good for 121bhp of power and 149Nm of torque, the oil burner produces 99bhp of power and 215Nm of torque. A 5-speed manual gearbox driving the power to the front wheels will come as standard, while a 6-speed torque convertor will be offered as an optional.
