The long-awaited 2021 Volvo S60 sedan has finally been launched in India at an introductory price of Rs 45.90 lakh (ex-showroom). The prices will be applicable for limited units, which can be booked online through the official website of Volvo India. The deliveries of the S60 sedan booked in January and February will begin from mid-March 2021.
What’s Under The Hood?
The 2021 Volvo S60 is powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine that churns out a maximum power output of 190bhp and a peak torque of 300Nm. It is paired to an 8-speed automatic gearbox. It will come with 3 driving modes – Comfort, ECO and Dynamic. In terms of proportions, the new Volvo S60 is 4,761mm long, 2,040mm wide and 1,431mm tall, and has a wheelbase of 2,872mm.
Safety and Driver-Assistance Features
It is based on Volvo Cars’ SPA (Scalable Product Architecture) platform. The sedan has scored 5 star rating from Euro NCAP. It is equipped with several high-end safety and security features such as oncoming mitigation by braking, brakes with hiill start assist, pilot assist, adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, speed alert, driver alert system, etc.
The 2021 Volvo S60 is fitted with autobrake technology, which assists the driver in avoiding potential collisions. It is claimed to be the only system in the market to recognize pedestrians, cyclists and large animals. Adding to it, the pilot assist system has been upgraded with improved cornering performance. It supports the driver with steering, acceleration and braking on well-marked roads up to 130kmph.
Design & Features
In terms of styling, the third-generation Volvo S60 gets brand’s new design language with signature two-part front grille and ‘Thor’s hammer’ headlights and C-shaped tail-lamps. It comes equipped with features like a 9-inch portrait-style touchscreen infotainment system, a 4-zone climate control, wireless charging, rear parking camera, Harman Kardon sound system, a panoramic sunroof and 18-inch diamond cut alloys.
It will rival the BMW 3-Series, the Mercedes-Benz C-Class, the Jaguar XE and the upcoming Audi A4 facelift.
