2021 Tata Harrier, New Safari To Get iRA Connected Tech

Tata Nexon EV was the brand’s first car to receive iRA (Intelligent Real-time Assist) technology, followed by the Nexon and soon-to-be-launched Altroz iTurbo. During a QnA session after the unveiling of the Tata Altroz iTurbo, Vivek Srivatsa, Head, Marketing, Passenger Cars, Tata Motors, has revealed that the company will soon introduce the iRA tech on its other models including the 2021 Tata Harrier and the upcoming new Tata Safari SUVs.

The introduction of the iRA technology in lower car segment will certainly increase prices of the models. Therefore, the Tiago hatchback and Tigor compact sedan are unlike to receive Tata’s new connected technology. The carmaker claims that the new iRA connected car technology has been especially developed for the Indian market. It offers 27 connected car features including remote lock / unlock, live vehicle diagnosis, remote distance to empty (DTE ) check, remote headlights on/ off, stolen vehicle tracking, geo-fencing, remote immobilization, time fencing alert, emergency SMS, valet mode and more.

As mentioned above, the Altroz iTurbo will be the next Tata model to receive the iRA that’s slated to launch on 22nd January 2021. It will be followed by the new Tata Safari SUV that will make its debut on coming 26th January. The SUV (codenamed Gravitas) will be made available in four variants, three colour schemes and two seating configurations. For power, it will use the Harrier’s 170bhp, 2.0L FCA-sourced diesel engine with manual and automatic gearboxes.

In coming months, the 2021 Tata Harrier will receive a new 150bhp, 1.5L turbo petrol engine along with the iRA connected tech update. The carmaker will also foray into the micro SUV space with the all-new Tata HBX concept based model. Reports suggest that its production version is likely to come by May, 2021. Once launched, it will take on the Maruti Suzuki S-Presso and the upcoming Hyundai AX1 mini SUV.
