MG Motor India has confirmed that the updated Hector will see a release on January 7, 2021. Ahead of its official price announcement, the model has started reaching dealerships across the nation. The 2021 model year has witnessed a few noticeable changes on the exterior and interior. The engine setup, however, will be carried forward for the existing version.
The latest spy pictures reveal that the 2021 MG Hector facelift carries the newly-designed front grille and larger 18-inch alloy wheels in dual-tone finish replacing the old 17-inch units. The all-black interior theme has also been replaced with the new dual-tone upholstery and finish. The SUV is likely to receive a few new features including an updated infotainment system and auto dimming IRVM.
Rumour has it that the new MG Hector 2021 might come with the ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System) autonomous level 1 technology and 4X4 drivertrain system as we have seen on the MG Gloster. If offered, the aforementioned features could be reserved for a new Savvy trim. It will also make the Hector the first car in its segment to feature ADAS and 4WD. As mentioned above, the Hector facelift will continue to come with the existing three engines – a 1.5L turbo petrol, a 1.5L turbo petrol hybrid and 2.0L diesel. The turbo-petrol makes a top power of 143bhp and 250Nm of torque, while the turbo-petrol mild hybrid powertrain offers up to 20Nm of additional torque at low speeds. A 6-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox is exclusively offered with the turbo-petrol motor.
The mild-hybrid engine is available with a 6-speed manual gearbox only. The oil burner, with a 6-speed manual gearbox, delivers a peak power of 170bhp and 350Nm. The turbo-petrol manual and DCT are claimed to deliver mileage of 13.96kmpl and 14.16kmpl respectively. While the petrol hybrid returns 15.18kmpl, the diesel version promises 17.41kmpl.
