It is no secret that Mahindra is readying the new generation models of the Scorpio, XUV500 and the Thar SUVs. While the new Thar will be launched during July-August 2020, the new Scorpio and XUV500 will arrive in the first half of 2021. The new 2021 Mahindra Scorpio has been spotted testing multiple times. Going by the spy images, it is visible that the new model will receive all-new design and better equipped cabin.

Digita artist Vipin Vathoopan from Cartoq has released a new render based on the spy images of the new Scorpio. The new render shows the possible design of the production version of the all-new Scorpio SUV.

New Scorpio front rendering

The front fascia of the rendering shows the typical 6 slats Mahindra grille with chrome treatment. The 2021 Mahindra Scorpio will be longer, more modern and spacious than the outgoing car. The SUV will continue to offer rugged and tough profile and features the flatish design with high-set bonnet. The render shows squared wheel arches and cladding across the body to offer rugged profile. Due to new crash test and pedestrian norms, the new Mahindra Scorpio will have revised front design with less prominent bumper and bonnet.

The next-gen Mahindra Scorpio will be designed and developed on the modified ZEN3 platform, which will soon debut in the new Thar. This platform will be lighter, stronger and safer. The SUV will be equipped with host of safety and security features such as reverse camera, multiple airbags, hill launch and hill descent control, ABS with EBD, brake assist, etc.

Thanks to longer body, the new-gen Mahindra Scorpio will offer spacious cabin. The top-end models will also receive forward-facing third row of seats. Previous media reports claim that the next-gen model will receive the Heads-Up Display. The SUV will also receive a new touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. It will also receive power adjustable driver’s seat, electrically adjustable ORVMs, etc.

The 2021 Mahindra Scorpio will be powered by a new 2.2-litre/ 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel engine, which is likely to produce around 160bhp of power and close to 400Nm of torque. The SUV will also receive a new 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine, which was unveiled at the 2020 Auto Expo. This turbocharged engine can produce up to 190bhp and 380Nm of torque; however, Mahindra engineers could de-tune this engine to produce around 140-150bhp of power and 300Nm of torque. Transmission options are likely to include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque convertor automatic.
