2021 Kia Sportage Spotted – Bigger, Sportier, Electrified Powertrains

The Kia Sportage SUV is ready to enter into its fifth generation in the global markets. The new model is likely to make official debut in June, followed by its launch in the second half of 2021. Bigger & Better

Compared to the current generation, the new one appears bigger with thoroughly updated front fascia. The 2021 Kia Sportage will share its underpinnings with the new Tucson and feature the bigger ‘Tiger Nose’ radiator grille running across the front end.

The headlamps will be placed lower on the bumper. The rugged body cladding, larger rear spoiler, full-width taillamp LED strip and a more angular boot lid further enhance its sporty looks. Tucson Like Interior

As of now, the interior details of the 2021 Kia Sportage are under the wraps. Though, its layout is likely to similar to the Tucson. The higher trim might get a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, while the base model is likely to come with an 8-inch unit.

Electrified Powertains

On the engine front, the 2021 Kia Sportage will come with petrol, diesel and hybrid powertrain options. These are likely to be borrowed from the Tucson. The new-generation Sportage could be offered with a 48-volt mild hybrid setup with Kia’s Intelligent Manual Transmission (iMT). There will also be a 1.6L petrol engine with a 59bhp electric motor offering a combined power output of 227bhp and 350Nm of torque.  In pure electric mode, the setup will be able to cover short distances.

The new Kia Sportage 2021 is likely to feature the 1.6L petrol engine with a larger capacity battery. Similar to the Tucson, it will have adaptive dampers and multiple driving modes. Reports suggest that the SUV might also be equipped with a semi-autonomous driving system.
